Fine by me - what do you think about it then?

Yes, quite. I was agreeing with your sarcasm in my post.

This reverb is a great improvement to version 4... and I wouldn't mind hearing peoples comments in how it compares to the Princeton Digital 2016 Plate and Stereo Room VST's.

With a simple serial number that unlocked ANY copy of a plug-in, all it takes is one person out of thousands to ruin it all by making their serial number public. The solution we have is the best way we could come up with to minimize extra steps and make it easy as possible to use our software. The worst that can happen is that you get a new machine, install the plug-ins again (which are fully functional for 30-days) get a new keycode from our website, and if you have used them up and need another we provide that within a day or add more registrations to your serial number (well before any demo version would expire). And in the case of a contingency plan (should something bad happen to the company) we could modify the system to provide unlimited keycodes or permanently unlocked versions. I don't see how you can lose.

When we had the simple serial number scheme, sales slowed to a crawl. When we re-instituted the C/R scheme, sales picked up. What else can I possibly conclude from that? We had to take SOME measure to protect our livelihood, and we chose a solution that minimized hassle to the customer.
I agree with greendoor. However, over the past year I have accepted C/R when it is set up as you have set it up. The grace period is critical to avoid downtime.

Software is a different beast. When you buy a piece of hardware, it does not remain the property of the company that made it. C/R and particularly the dongle, reinforces the basic fact that the software is not really yours. It does not feel good. If I buy a guitar, the manufacturer cannot tell me that I cannot take it apart, or where to use it, or that I cannot modify it to suit my needs.

So I support free and open source projects where possible. I would love to see an open source, multi-platform, host project. At the same time I certainly do not begrudge you your living. You have sincerely done your best to balance your needs with the needs of the users and that is the most one can ask of someone.

Sorry,I was afraid my sarcasm had been lost.
It is a great reverb. I've been using it on drums..very nice. I liked V4, but not as much as 5, I like the darker, denser verbs and this sounds really good at those.
I've also used it in conjunction with the Princeton Room on drums and got very good results. In trying them side by side, the quality seems to be about the same to me, but..you can do so much more with the Masterverb. I've not heard the Princeton plate yet, But I'm thinking I won't need to.

The CSR from IK sounds interesting but, I've heard it's not nearly as efficient as this one. The efficiency on Masterverb is amazing. Also, what kind of copy protection is IK going to have? And I doubt that IK will give the kind of service that Wave Arts does.

Post

There's a 99% chance that CSR will come with (or without, and still require) a dongle. A Syncrosoft dongle. That counts Steinberg, Korg, and IK among the adopters of the Syncrosoft dongle.

MasterVerb sounds nice to me, but I honestly haven't had much of a chance to use it. I've quite a few of the available plugins, but I find myself going to my Powercore reverbs most often. TrackPlug is great, though ... except I'm not really fond of the compressor. It sounds ... peculiar to me, and doesn't behave the way I expect it to. The EQ and filters are really nice, though, so it gets used lots. FinalPlug is a sweet piece of software, though I'm still trying to figure out exactly how it's working. And MultiDynamics is stellar for multiband on kick/bass, etc. So, sort of on-topic.

Great bundle.

Please do it kilroy!!! I would be very thankful...
Right, here are a few plate samples from the P-100 "Lexicon" reverb for the Scope platform. I feel a bit of a piker posting these in this thread, but I guess since these are SHARC based...

To save me time I dug up a loop that would demonstrate this well...good lows, highs, and percussive transients. I recreated some of the sounds I used most from the PCM series. All samples are a 100/100 wet/dry mix on two faders at unity gain.

DryLoop Er...the dry loop

ClassicPlate A versatile plate.

SlamPlate A close, explosive plate good for percussion, vox, whatever you want in your face.

BreathingPlate A slinky, almost gate like reverb that imparts a nice vibe to a sound.

WideTapPlate Variations on this theme can be used to throw the sound out to the sides and/or create a rhythmic feel.

Hmm. Some developer should come with a "Masturverb" plug.

Kilroy, nice examples. Could you post maybe a few 100% wet examples? This shows quite easily what the reverb is capable of and how the tail really sounds.

Cheers!

Aye, I could do that. Probably have to wait till the first of the week though.

hey kilroy thanks for the demo samples.
This reverb sounds ultra dense...
exactly what I need...
I will wait for the CSR reverb, I don`t care if its a cpu hungry plug-in.

I'm going to bump this old thread to report that, having the UAD plate, the AAR, the stock poco reverbs, and a number of others, I couldn't pass on the Masterverb once I demo'd it. Worth noting that I'm over looking for 'realism' in reverb -- if I get a job doing post, I'll worry about realism. Meanwhile, I suppose I'm a minor collector of reverbs at this point, and if somebody was looking for 1 reverb to rule them all, I don't know what I'd tell them. But there sure is every reason to own the Masterverb, no matter what else you have. I won't tell you what hardware unit it sounds like, only without the noise, cause I don't want to cause a big blowup . . . Just want to say, very nice work from WaveArts.
Grist for the glamour mill.
