I'm interested in hearing what everyone thinks about the builtin TrackTion plugins included with the product especially the 4 Band Parametric EQ and the Reverb. Any opinions on the Mackie compressor plugs. I've seen a Final Mix topic but nothing on the other plugs.
My question concerns the quality of the plugins as compared to others available on the market.

the mackie plugins are somthing speshail IMO but the bilt in Tracktion plugins are not as pro as some would like

I like the Tracktion EQ and use it quite a bit actually. The reverb isn't too bad though it can get a bit metallic. It works great for some things.
At home, he's a tourist...

Just a quick note for anyone who stumbles across this thread: people are distinguishing between native Tracktion plug-ins, which are not VSTs, and the Mackie Plug-ins. Technically, they're all "Tracktion" plug-ins, but for the sake of clarity, there's a difference being drawn between Tracktion plug-ins and Mackie plug-ins. 
They're all very useful, I find. The lo/hi pass filter in T isn't particularly steep in its cutoff, but I use it all the time anyhow. The Pitch shift is a sonic joke in terms of formant preservation, etc., but I actually use it a LOT-- for mocking up bass parts when I don't want to switch from my guitar, for testing harmonies and then as 'guide' tracks for re-tracking.
Er, I'm losing my point... but well, the Mackie Plug-ins are excellent, and the Tracktion plug-ins have a great feeling of 'utilitarian satisfaction' to them.

The 4-band EQ works great if you are just looking to notch out something, put a High Pass shelf on some vocals, etc. I use it all the time, doesn't seem to eat CPU.
The reverb can eat quite a bit of CPU with longer reverb times. If reverb isn't the signature effect of your particular mix, it works great - no nonsense solution.
And the Mackie plugins, I've only used Final Mix so far - but extensively.
It's a must-have go-to. There are many who claim they can hear all kinds of artifacts. I'm not that discerning and I can usually find a pre-set that will do that extra 'magic' to a mix that I was unable to do on my own. I study the settings on those presets, and then go back and try to correct some of what the Final Mix present applied. It's a great learning tool in that regard.
I've also used it on mixes that have been sent to me; applying 3 or 4 different presets that give the mix a new character, send those back to the person that sent them to me and usually they pick 1 or 2 out and say "Wow, how did you do that?" Then I sheepishly admit that it was just a preset selection in Final Mix.
I think it's worth the $149 that you can buy T for.

Hell, Tracktion's worth the money you can buy Tracktion for.
I agree completely, the finalmix presets are a lesson in mix/mastering for those of us who learn as we go along. I can't thank jules and mackie enough!

Thanx to all for your responses to date. I'm using the TrackTion 4 band EQ and the Mackie 3 Band Compressor with when I record tracks. I've spent some time listening to FinalMix, and like the results I've been hearing so far. I'm having a bit of a problem with reverb, finding something that really hits my ears.
You bet T2 is defintely a steal at its pricepoint.

recently I discovered the included T2 phaser plug and was very pleased. Warm and creamy like an old MXR phaser!
I also went on a bit of a binge and experimented with the included MDA plugs. Some are really quite nice! Lots of good utilities there.

The Mackie compressor plugs are excellent, although the name doesn't do them justice IMO as they are capable of expansion as well as compression, or both together
