Analog outputs

If I had alot of analog outputs (like a few 1010lts etc), would it be possible ins tracktion to send each track to one of these outputs seperately and mixdown with an analog mixer? Ifso, how would I route that within the software?

Thats what I do. I will take the 24 tracks and use plugins on some tracks like amplitube on guitar, but when I am finished with T-2, I will put those tracks back into the external drive and put that back into the HDR and mix thru my analog board to the Masterlink

Since I dont have an external HD will a computer be able to route that many tracks at once?

In principle, there's nothing to stop you from working that way - a lot of people do (myself included).

However, you de need some means of passing all those individual audio tracks to the outside world, which means you need some form of multi-channel card. My solution is a Yamaha 01x, but there are plenty of alternatives.

It's been a long time since I have tried this but when I did it didn't work very well. Tracktion seemed to get choked up with only a few multiple outs activated.

Wow, lots of controversial posts. Graeme and Rock, may I ask your computer specs since Greame uses this setup and it didnt work out for Rock.

I'm not sure I even tried it since Tracktion 2 came out but anyway... (and it could be the drivers for the interface (moto 2408 in my case)) but anyway 2.6 mhz P4. 512 ram.

Basic spec is a 3GHz Pentium 4, 1GB RAM. I use a Yamaha 01x as the interface - which is a sort of all-in-one Contoller/Mixer/Audio interface unit which talks to the computer via Yamaha's mLan protocol (which is a modified Firewire).

I don't have high track counts, 16 would be the very maximum I would use - frequently it's less. Not only is this the limit of the hardware, it's how I have always worked.
