you are absolutely right!,
my previous reply was too quick, <grin>
beside the LFO ranges, there were LP filter frequency changed, and ADSR speed,
now I'm fixing back all those,
it will sound the same and better, don't worry,
many thaks for your help guys,
just check the FM so far,

ok, great liqih!
i'll concentrate more on the FM feature now that's out of the way.
thanks.

Hi Liqih, apart from the issues mentioned, I must say I am very happy with the tonal potentials with this FM implementation. Is adsr still on the cards in the FM section?
And, about the eq, multimode thing. I read quickly before and missed the essence of the either/or choice. So, to restate, I would actually prefer that the eq section stays per oscillator, as it is now, and that in the effects slots, there is the option to route the signals, wholly or partly, to a multimode filter *with* adsr(or two, using each slot)- this is something I mentioned back when we discussed it earlier in the thread.

I think bundling them together is a great idea for the user/buyer.JamminFool wrote:just noticed this.liqih wrote: about that I'm planning to include EVE ONE for free with EVE 2![]()

Are you still hoping for backwards compatibility between 1.8 and 2?
My preference is yes, backwards compatible with all those luscious vintage pads from the 1.x series, and maybe you can get some of us (wink) to do some extra patch banks for each of the EVE soundsets, using the new FM and effects section.

adsr for FM will probably be there, but I'm not sure about the filter own adsr, I'm scared to put too many controls in EVE,pw wrote:Hi Liqih, apart from the issues mentioned, I must say I am very happy with the tonal potentials with this FM implementation. the current shared adsr (amp and LP) seems to work
just fine and it's quick to edit,
maybe an envelope depth control for the filter
could be enough ?
also the routing features are good on paper
but they would make EVE harder to understand, I know
you can! but EVE must preserve its nature,
yes, but all banks will need a little retouchingAre you still hoping for backwards compatibility between 1.8 and 2?

I am definitely all for EVE 'preserving its nature'. I like that it doesn't do everything. How about then, adding a multimode, but without adsr, in the effects slot? I like the filter that you added at v1.8, and it has a very particular character and is useful as a saturator too, but it could be well complemented.liqih wrote:

the eve 1.8 filter in the fx slot was cool... but it needs to be available at all times - not instead of chorus or phaser.

I like the way that fm is shaping up. I'm looking forward to the multieffects. The mfx units should have seperate send levels for each oscilator, which is certainly doable within the extant interface since the delay and mod units have these controls now. But with regard to routing, could we have a serial/parallel switch, or a send level from unit 1 to unit 2? My suggestion about eq vs multimode filtering is if not both per oscillator, why not make eq available as a filter mode? That would be the ideal solution, actually, but, if not, then I'd say filters at the oscliator level and eq at the output. And in any case, the multimode filter should be available as an effect algorithm.

thanks for the input,
here another beta with filter mode selectable LP BP HP BR, the LP should be almost the same of the old version,

i don't have a lot of time to play with this today, but initial impressions are:liqih wrote:thanks for the input,

the LP filter does sound much closer to EVE 1.8 when FM is shut off. levels are restored and fullness returns.
the other filters are giving me a lot of crackles and pops. also the envelopes don't seem to be applied to these.
lastly, i'm not sure what i did, but there was a case were the filter on OSC1 would not update on the GUI while the drop down showed the selected filter correctly (not sure whether it actually changed filters though). i initially thought it happened when i had changed the OSC2 filter first, but couldn't repro, so not sure..
that's it for now.
btw: fm sounds cool. whole new dimension.

Just played around with the beta_1d. Over all I like the sound of this much better that the previous beta.
I really like the additional selectable filters. These allow for some really nice fine tuning of the patches but do seem to be really dependant on the vel sens adjustment to avoid peaking.(not sure if this is where you considered the env depth control).
As for the FM section, I feel like I'm missing something here. I'm not sure I understand how this is interacting with the sound over all or is it possibly off in this beta?

Ok, I am getting a lot of 'clicking' now, or maybe it is 'peaking', with all the filters. Also, when using the new filter types, on release, there is a noticeable enveloping sound.
MRT- the FM is on by default- as soon as you start playing you are hearing the FM effected sound. Turn all the FM dials to the hard left to hear the difference.

yes I have to fix the envelope, since I'm adding min max values for filter frequency,
new beta tomorrow or later tonight,
thanks

Ok, I look forward to the next beta. Meanwhile, I am still curious about some things we talked about a couple of pages ago.
1- the ability to switch between FM and Ring modulation in the new FM section.
2- the ability to apply an adsr to the FM/Ring effect- like in the early mockups you did.
I hope to give the new features a more thorough testing in a couple of days time.
