you said "it sounds ok to me", it was my dx-7, not fm7.

and that shows what about the fm7? all it shows is that i think your dx7 sounds fine. congratulations, half of your opinion is validated.

jesus christ, i just came here asking a couple simple f**king questions and you get on this shit about anyone who uses fm7 is an idiot or something. i don't really give a shit if your super-charged ears are so good that you can hear things us lesser beings can't. if you got nothing else to say in regards to my original post, please get out of the thread.

i'm actually just pretty sure fm7 stinks. i considered buying it once long ago. i feel sorry for guys who use it thinking it is "close enough" to a dx-7. you should really try a real dx-7 (the original steel keyboard) to get a feel for the actual instrument.

In the day, Chick used a minimoog and a modular and a polymoog, an Arp Oddessy, a Rhodes, (mainly) a Yamaha real piano, and he was one of the few to use a Yamaha GX1. Today he's a Yamaha spokesmodel and supposedly uses an O1 and a Motif.

The Late Great Miles Davis pretty much created the "jazz fusion" genre, and took it all the way to the "post-jazz-fusion" genre. To me though, Miles' signature is the piano, and maybe the Rhodes Chroma (which is, strictly speaking, an ARP). But the Chroma is really Herbie's axe.

you guys have emotions about fm7 like kiddies have about synth1.

i just happened to spend $200 on a dx-7 instead of a peice of software that doesnt do anything like what a dx-7 does.. i had the intention of buying a dx-7 and i did. i'm here saying that i've tried fm7, and it does not sound anything like a dx-7. fm7 sounds like a phm / subtractive hybrid synthesizer and does a fair job in its own area. hands down in terms of dx-7 sounds, the dx-7 wins, obviously. i'm sure someone else can do a better job sounding like me than i can..

if anyone wants a dx-7, or dx-7 sounds, it would be a much smarter investment for them to buy one of the dx-7 based modules, or the actual dx-7 if they'd like the best synth-action keyboard ever made.

if anyone wants trance kiddie sounds with a knob they can adjust for unison detune and a knob they can adjust to add noise and distortion, it would be a much smarter investment for them to buy fm7.

aciddose, i'm gonna send you a midi file that requires 64-voice polyphony. how will your dx7 sound? oh, wait, dx7 can't handle 64-voices at once. weird, fm7 can. i guess the clear winner is fm7 without even listening. hmm...

you have right click and copy the actual link that gets you there. Vintage synth doesnt work in the orthodox

got what? my cousin has a tx816, i could probably get that off him some time, not immediately though. i knew of course your example was merely an attempt to make me look wrong in some way. also, if i can produce 1024 plain sine tones, does that mean my synthesizer is clearly better than any other out there? generally sixteen voices is not a limitation.
