A relative of horseradish (it is usually mixed with a large perecentage of horseradish apparently) and made into a green paste to serve as a condiment with sushi and sashimi.

As you would expect, it is hot to taste - like horseradish or mustard - and just a small amount in your mouth will make your brow sweat.

A really common gag in film is to depict someone who finds himself confronted with a sushi platter for the first time grabbing the ball of wasabi in his chopsticks and popping it in his mouth before anyone can warn him.

IMO, Voxengo GUI's look very pro. Easy on the eye and not flashy at all.

I see, I knew that stuff but not its name. Thanks, egebert! It's nice to see on kvr other things can be learned beside audio plugins, too. :-)

Sorry for all others to have been going off topic...

Aleksey provides us frequent updates for his hottest plugins, and I'd rather have him keeping using his time for improving their function than their looks.

I love the gui on voxengo pluggins :D
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

just like to say, i think the voxengo guis are fine, they dont look 'nice' but i dont care, as long as they are functional. i too would rather aleksey focused entirely on the code, and keeping the prices low.

another vote for keeping the guis plain and legible. and i agree - vox plugs don't try to look 3d like hardware - yet they have a sort of classic quality which reminds me of old hardware. the function is what counts. after that first oooh/ahhh.

I will never in my life forget being blindsided by that stuff. Now, I try to get my friends to try it
I don't have very many friends any more.

Oh yeah, I like Voxengo's GUI's but I'd like to see a different color knob.

I think we agree that the sound is what is important, but....but...I used to be in marketing/advertising and often times a good look "captures the attention".

I firmly believe that if Voxengo redesigned their GUIs then their sales would go up and then Aleksey would come to the forefront even more and his work would get even more the deserving recognition he deserves.

Just my opinion. I find the look a bit grainey and hard to read sometimes. But Aleksey has aquired a "look" and you have to be careful, from a marketing standpoint, on how much you want to "mess" with "your look" for folks have come to identify with it.

I like your sounds Aleksey.
