Hours have slipped away and can't get this working . . .

I have the free Line6 version of ableton Live 4 (this may or may not be relevant to this problem ? )

Rewire is enabled in settings in T2

I insert the rewire filter in to a track, then select Ableton Live in the properties - first 'issue' is that the 'launch' button does nothing - I have to launch AL4 manually.

Now I assume that at the very least if it's all talking to each other than hitting 'play' in T2 should start AL4 playing right ? No such luck . . .

Any ideas / hints?

Try a search of this forum. Myself and others have answered this a few times.

In short, set up, save set, quit everything and restart in the correct order. If things aren't workig after that, your problem may be the version of Live 4. 4.1.4 solved some rewire problems. There's a help page for rewire on ableton's site. Use the example for logic or cubase. I think one of the few extra steps in live 4 is that you have to set the rewire channel on each track but check it out for yourself.

Version 5 eliminated most of the complexity, making it dirt simple and the demo is freely downloadable.

You might also search the ableton forums at their site.

Cheers james - yes I did (after posting) find the discussions in here - still coulnd't get Live Lite 4 to play. Downloaded the 5 demo - no problems. Having said all that it's become moot - I was doinf it to be able to host a plugin that seems to not be compatible with T2 (Ueberscall Liquid Bass). But once I got 5 rewired I discovered that a rewire slave can't host plugins  Cheers for the info though - much appreciated

Glad to help.

You might try the Jack app. It's a linux port that can route audio across system apps.

If your plug doesn't work as a stand-alone, do a search for a free host. On the mac, I think there is one called rax or raxx that hosts audio units.

Best.

I'll look for Jack - there is indeed a standalone version of the plug.

Found out that the prob with the plug is a known bug too

thanks again,
