Time sig???

Hello,

I can't understand what tracktion does with tim-sig like 3/8 versus 3/4. I love tracktion but I almost sold it two times for this.

Included is a midi file.

Import it in Tracktion and then import it in another seq. You will see that Tracktion has not the same BPM with measures like 3/8

Please somebody can explain this?

You got me stumped. What amazes me is that it hasn't been noticed yet. My excuse is that I barely use MIDI, never mind tempo changes at alternate time signatures.

My brain hurts trying to think about it, so I'm going to pass it off to anyone else who comes along who might be able to explain it.

I downloaded your example file and looked at it in cakewalk and in tracktion. Obvious bug, there is a divide by 2 error in tracktion, the mackie dudes should be able to spot this one pretty easy.....tracktion is taking the 3/8 time signiture and making it 6/8.

Still plays back correctly, just the division into measures is wrong.....

Sure wish I had been able to say it as clearly and quickly. "A divide by 2 error". That's about it.

Just back from work.
I also can't believe this has not been noticed beta testing.
It is funny to see a clip growing or shrinking when moving it from a x/4 to x/8 measure.
This could be a real nice feauture but not like it is now.
At first I thought it was a feauture I did not understand.

I'm sure there now will be a lot of people announcing that "I knew about this all along" so I want to be the first one.

As a Tracktion newbie it was one of the first things I noticed when I tried to arrange one of my songs with mixed time signatures.

I sort of never got beyond the newbie stage, even though I own both T1 and T2. One of the reasons for this is of course the above time sig "problems" which made it hard to work with Tracktion.

Or is there really some simple explanation or work-around?

So soundquist thank you for letting it know us now.

BTW I made a new discovery.
The "insert space in the marked region" or delete marked region does not work on the tempo-time sig bar. So it is not possible to shift that information.
Unless I'm overlooking something that is.

Hope Mackie can make a quick fix for it

Maybe it's time T had it's entire MIDI engine overhauled by a developer that actually likes MIDI!
