The redeeming feature of a Christmas song is the one where the band fail to show up to record it
Now, in the words of Mr Vernon....

[in a voice like artificially flavored maple-like syrup]
"Merry Christmas, darling...
We're apart, that's true,
But I can dream, and in my dreams
I'm Christmassing with you."
By Christmassing, she meant hanging tinsel. *nodnod*

[curious foregner]That's about the same as "sitting under the apple tree", right?[/curious foreigner]Meffy wrote:[in a voice like artificially flavored maple-like syrup]

My answer to the question posed by this thread is "Jingle Bell Rock," regardless of whatever "artist" is providing their rendition thereof.
The original "Jingle Bells" is a close second.
Or perhaps I just have some kind of phobia about jingling bells?

For a truly righteous listening experience, I can only commend "James Brown's Funky Christmas."
The essential track is "Santa Go Straight 2Da Ghetto"
Until you've heard this, you don't have a clue what cheese is... JB performs it well, of course (well, duh
)
Now, in the immoral wodes of Mr Vernon....

OMG, I think I bought that once . . . if it's the one I'm thinking of, it sounded like JB was forced to do the vocals over top a cheap GM soundtrack to fulfill a community service obligation as part of his paroll. It wasn't so much cheesy as just plain . . . BAD.funkychickendance wrote:For a truly righteous listening experience, I can only commend "James Brown's Funky Christmas."

That sounds about right. Three, four decades later but same activity. Canoodlement and serious wooing appear to have been a featured part of this tinsel-strewing deal.Hovmod wrote:[curious foregner]That's about the same as "sitting under the apple tree", right?[/curious foreigner]

........... No thank you. I used to have to go to rough bars to replace the pool cues (and occasionally table slates) that got broken during that kind of "festivity."
