Anyone know of any good WAV file repair programs?

A few files on the hard drive have become corrupted and send T2 into an endless loop when trying to load them.

T2, XP.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Have you tried having Windows XP try to fix the broken sectors? (right click on drive icon, properties, extras > check now, click both checkboxes)

That should make the files accessible again, but when there's data lost you are not going to get it back. There is no way to explicitly fix WAV files with lost chunks of data.

Absolutely right. The question is, is it the file that is corrupted or the placement on the drive which is corrupted. Try to copy them to another location and load them in wave editor. Most descent editors like Soundforge and Wavelab will read them and put a 0 or 1 where the error occurs. It may not fix the content on the file but it will make it redable. But you may have lost it dude. Backup Backup Backup, I can't say it enough times, I have actually 2 backup medias, just in case, since I'm paranoid and believes that Microsoft can burst in here any minute and shoot my pc's and jump up and down on the leftovers...

If it was reeeeeaaaly vital there are companies that are more than willing to save your data though, even if you burned your disk to unrecognition. The company I have most to do with charges $7000 just to take a look at the disk though, so you better be signed before you do something like that:)

Good luck though, hope it works out ok.

One final advice. If you get to load the files in ext editors, run it through a dither to see if it helps.
Say YES to OpenSource Software!!

OK, thanks for the tips chaps. I'm running the error-checking thing first, then I guess I'll know if it is a file corruption or a drive corruption (or both?).

As it stands the files won't copy to another drive or load in an external editor. If I load them into T2 you can see the visuals load-in upto the point where it's corrupted and then the whole thing hangs (so you can see a portion of the file).

I'm guessing if those parts could be skipped over I could recover the remaining good stuff at the end of the file.

Count your lucky stars there mate!

I am such a klutz that I've had to resort to wrapping my external gear in egg-crate foam! :?

I always assume I can carry more than what I am physically capable of.
