I have a problem :
each time i want to use a paragraphic eq or a graphic vst eq plugin in Sony Sforge or Acid, the plugin auto-reset himself each tim i play the audio file from the beginning.
I have that problem using SLimSlowSlider linear eq, smartelectronix Nyquist, Firium....
It is boring !!
anybody knows how to avoid such a bug ?
thanx

nobody cares ?
nobody knows ?
nobody wants ?

or maybe nobody uses SF and Acid anymore ???

As far as I can tell VST plugins always reset in Sound Forge. Odd, because they don't in Vegas.

I think it's a problem with VST's in general. For example, if I use the built in patch selector on CamelSpace, Acid reset's it upon restart. If however, I select the same preset from the drop-down (at the top of the plug-in window, above the plug-in GUI) it remembers it.

There is a workaround though. When you have the settings as you want them, just save it as a preset - that appears to be the only way to keep the settings.

To confirm how you do this...

1. In the Preset drop-down, overwrite the (Untitled) text with whatever you want the settings to be called. e.g. 'My eq'
2. Click on the floppy disk icon, to the right of the drop-down.

Hope this helps!

oh !
I'm astonished by what you say, as i contacted SOny's support, and they asked me to "re-install properly the software", as if it was anything known by them and as if I made the mistake... !
They really don't care with their customers !!
It's f__cking penible, as i use many vst plugins, and i love my vst eq way better than DX ones !!
I don't know how to fix the problem...
I thought sony's support would hav told me "yes, sometimes it happens, just disable a reset function in your preferences tab"... i was dreaming.

yep !
thanx a lot ScarKord, I'll try this (but this will make 15687687 presets in my vst folders if i only can do so !).
Glad you told me about that, i was thinking about buying camelphat3... ! (well, that sony's lack would not be a reason not to buy it anyway !)

And i went to see how many Dx eq plugins were listed on KVR : only 20, and mainly very expnsive (nearly all above 150 $)...
i like so much my nyquist.. !

I think it depends on the plug-in. My TC Compressor shows the presets up above, but the settings won't change on the interface, like there is a disconnect. So it initializes every time, nothing to be done.

Which is OK, I'm mostly a Wavelab man these days; takes too damn long to open plug-ins in Sound Forge. Takes too long to do everything in SF8 now.

What version are you using of each? Current Sound Forge is 8.0a and Acid Pro is 5.0c. I'm not too thrilled with how either one manages plug-ins, and have had numerous correspondence with Sony Media tech support about this. Both applications are very good at many things, but not with plug-ins.

Agreed. I hate this "hit the green button, open Plug-in Manager, hit another green button, wait ten seconds, choose from a huge list" method. I just tend to load up the "FX Favourites" menu and use it old-school destructive. I doubt I'll be using SF much longer. Either that or I'll go back to SF6 or one of the faster versions.

At least in Sound Forge you can set the default and alternate plug-in folders, although this doesn't seem to reliably update Plug-in Manager -- why I don't know. In Acid Pro, it's hard-coded for Vstplugins (not in the registry like Sound Forge), and if it finds a plug it doesn't like, it simply locks up the app (worst in 5.0 but not much better in 5.0a, b or c). And both programs seem ridiculously fussy about plug-ins. They both refuse to recognize some dll files as valid even though Chainer, Mini-host, energyXT and others have no problems with the same ones. I actually had to uninstall Acid Pro and go back to Acid Studio 5.0a to get rid of the plug-in problem, and now I see that the latest version of Acid Studio (6.0) accepts plug-ins. Unless it uses better code, I'll stick with what I have now.

Definitely; ACID is just horrible with VST plugs! I uninstalled ACID 4 and tried to go back to ACID 3 (which I liked better anyway), but it knocked out all the default Sony Vegas Track plugins with Sonic Foundry ones. So now, I don't even have ACID installed. Which I think at this point I'm OK with.

The only way i can have acid running stable with vst is using the microsoft sound mapper instead of my rock-solid m-audio ozone asio drivers...
but i like acid loop functions too much !
and i like vst plugins too much too... !

i actually like ACID a lot, even tough I'm switching to FL

The problem for you seems to be that your plugin in SoundForge goes back to the beginning? Interesting, I have SF8 and it never happened. I use Waves, iZotope, and T-RackS. Try reinstalling your EQ... I don't know though, but you're right, Sony Media Support does suck my 16 inch schlong
