Hullo
Im using T1 with drum loop cds.
Previously i ran the arranged drum track straight into my MD8 and recorded the audio.
Job done.
Im now attempting to record all instruments wholly in T1 but despite "recording" the sequenced loop track and saving as an edit, when i remove the loop disc, tracktion locks up and wants the disc back in.
And the drums never seem to have actually been recorded, that cant be right. What if i want a loop from 2 different discs in the same tune.
What am i missing guys??

I've never done it, but there is an "import audio from a cd" option in the import dialog.

For actually recording audio I think you have to route it through your sound card. But someone with experience with this will no doubt show up soon.

Thats what ive done. Provided the disc is in the drive itll play back fine. I never noticed a prob before as A,All the loops i used happened to be on the same CD and B,I sent the audio straight out to my MD8. Ive tried putting them in the clipboard and the clips are all saved in the project folder. The minute i eject the disc Tracktion locks and wont play ball again until i reinsert the disc.

I just had a thought.

With the disk still loaded Tracktion will play the file, right?

So, while the disk is still loaded, render the track. That should put the wave permanantly in the project folder.

yais. ive been swotting. seems like ive rumbled it. have to record as you go. The project i did was just a test really and i didnt record as i went along. Opened a new project and off i went.
Amazing concept. Like i said, i can be a bit thick sometimes.
Still its better than putting up with a REAL DRUMMER|!!

You might try copying the loop to your hard drive, and reimport it from there. I think importing in Tracktion is just a fancy way of telling the program where all the files are located. It doesn't actually make a copy anywhere.

bk is right. importing a file into tracktion just makes a pointer to where the file is located on your system. it does not actually duplicate the file in the project directory. when i get new cds of drum loops i copy the whole cd to a directory on a drive that i have just for archiving music and music related files. that way the files are always on the machine

It always gives you a dialogue when you import: "make local copy?" to which you need to say 'yes'.

Actually, I don't think that's true Greg. It depends how you import it. If I remember correctly, importing from the project tab gives the dialog but importing from the edit tab does not. I'm not positive on the circumstances as I'm not infront of my Tracktion set up right now but I know it depends on the case. Not quite sure why it was done this way actually.

Well, best import it from the project tab then.

or if your stuck with a load of files that refrence to a cd, you can export the edit as a arkive

& if the disk with the audio files is in the cd rom (IE: the track plays back fine) then the new copy of the edit will have all your files in it
