This whole topic began so optimistic, but 98 pages later it is anything but.

Actually I AM being impatient too. Got Amlitube 1 a few weeks ago mainly because it said you'd get Amplitube 2 for free then. I remember thinking "should I even bother to install ver 1 now when ver 2 will be in the mail any minute"...
Yes, I've installed Amplitube 1...

That's bad thinking when it comes to software I'm afraidpekadan wrote:Got Amlitube 1 a few weeks ago mainly because it said you'd get Amplitube 2 for free then.
IK tries so hard to keep NI and Line6 from taking the market they achieve the opposite.

Yeah I know, but I guess I'm a sucker for "great offers" like that. I had been drooling over Ampltitube for a long time but wouldn't buy it cause it was expensive and v2 would soon be out. It was the "buy now, get v2 for free" promise that made me jump. Hell, v2 was going to be released this month after all!cptgone wrote:That's bad thinking when it comes to software I'm afraid
(I'm not unhappy though. Using v1 now and loving it! I can hold out for a few more days...

Funny this actually. I wonder if IK were taken by surprise when NI released GR2? Of course they knew it was coming, but maybe they thought "Heh, they're gonna be at least 6 months delayed too for sure, we don't need to worry"...cptgone wrote:IK tries so hard to keep NI and Line6 from taking the market they achieve the opposite.
They must really be losing a lot of customers to NI now. "Amplitube 2? No thanks. I got GR2 a month ago." Or maybe most people that are into these sort of sims want both!?

tried the guitar rig demo - must be the most flexible of all the guitar sims
the modifiers are so cool - using the dynamics of your playing to control fx parameters opens up all sorts of creative guitar sounds
one i liked was playing quite soft but using the dynamics to control the amount of verb etc - loud notes just turn into big ringing noises that extend on for ages
luvvverly
OK it might not be the best amp sims( and i still can't get a really fierce high gain sound) but as i have never owned any of the originals I don't know what i'm missing
but what i'm getting (after xmas) is a really flexible way to affect audio - all sorts of audio

I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

I think it's best not to expect AT2 this year, january will be when it come's I'm sure, but even then it may take till February till everyone gets it in there hands, so unless you want a heart attack I would just relax and let it come when it comes, Get GTR 2 maybe, I think It's great, if you spend time getting your levels correct and engineering your own presets, it is really amazingly good, I have a pod and a Boss gt8, at first I preferred both to GTR 2, BUT after working with it for a while I prefer GTR2 by a long way, it's now the only one I use, I have a Behringer PCB1010 to control it and I love it, in stand alone it is extremly stable, I am even considering using it live, something that AT2 is not going to be any good at because of the Dongle, having said that I will still except my free AT2 upgrade when it comes.

Maybe IK's thinking "Shit! NI beat us to it, now we need to come up with brand new and better stuff before we can release". What was putte's guess? Q3 2008? Something like that...
