More likely this thread will implode for the lack of real information and demos. It'll leave a small gravitational anomaly within the muse research server farm.pekadan wrote:So, anyone heard any news about Amplitube 2 lately? ... Oh, is this thread being closed now?

Sounds like they need to beat the competition a little more then they thought.AmpliTube 2 is coming. Hard to say the exact release date at this point. There are a few things that are being worked on at the moment that are important for the product but the modeling DSP and all of that has been done for a while (what other people besides myself around here HAVE seen and heard in person). There are a few revolutionary aspects of its progression that no one knows about yet but are pretty powerful for guitarists. I wish I could talk about that but I can't yet.
I hope this is not a sign that the emulation by itself is not good enough to beat everybody else.

and I hope it's not a sign that they're making a hardware dongle (a cheapo DI like waves)... because it sure sounds that way.
While you're at it, let me come pee on your product since you're allowed to do it during development as well.

The Waves DI box (unfortunately) doesn't serve as a dongle. That'd at least be some halfway clever idea as you'd only have to plug in one item.Kingston wrote:and I hope it's not a sign that they're making a hardware dongle (a cheapo DI like waves)... because it sure sounds that way.
However, the lack of any audio demos, even if Squids said some months back that AT2 would be *almost* done, just some minor things would have to be adjusted, is making me suspicious.
I mean, the rest of their marketing machine is working under full steam allready, as it seems - couldn't be that tough to support all the marketing hype with a few audio files.
Seems as if their stuff really isn't as good as to keep up with the competitors.
Yeah, just awaiting the next Squids post on the subject:
"I allready have a beta and you won't believe how good it is". Again without any further evidence.
However, as I'm really looking for a mobile solution, I sort of ordered GR2.
I like the idea of simply plugging the floorboard into my laptop and be ready to go. No need to think about dongles either.
The sound isn't like what I'm getting from my traditional setups, but as I have those allready, I'm looking for something more experimental anyways.

well it's somewhat a dongle as everything else will be slightly handicapped compared to the "tuned" waves version. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they had put something that completely alters the response and is compensated within the plugin itself. (totally unnecessary but a nice handicap to force that DI on you)Sascha Franck wrote:The Waves DI box (unfortunately) doesn't serve as a dongle. Pretty sure I remember a dongle (usb key) was mentioned. I think it was iKey like Miroslav...Kingston wrote:and I hope it's not a sign that they're making a hardware dongle (a cheapo DI like waves)... because it sure sounds that way.
