I can see how some of you might think of it as vaporware but for me vaporware is something that doesn't exist at all. But, this has been demonstrated at trade shows and even some KVRians have seen and played it in person. But, it is a made up word so people can interpret how they like.

Not sure what you are refering to when you say heavily outdated product. Nothing I mentioned is something I'd consider outdated. But, maybe you were refering to something else.

The 'buy AT1 now and get AT2 for free' is what's eating me. I think this is a shabby way of doing business considering nothing remotely official has come out of IKMM regarding a release date. IKMM won't get any customer relations points on this that's for sure.

True, it is not vaporware per say. A vaporware is something that never existed and will never exist. People have actually seen and played with AT2. But, I think due to one's frustration and the way events have gone so far, it seems exactly like something that is never going to be released. Obviously, it would be really a bad business decision if IKMM decided not to release the product having spent mucho dinero on architecture, engineering , developpment, marketing and the chick with the fake boobs and the plastic face.

So, 99% chance is that AT2 will be released....some day.

I understand Squid's delicate situation. On one hand he has been chanting the merits of AT2 high and loud, on the other, we have seen or heard nothing from IKMM about the software itself beside a couple of screenshots and marketing buzz.

Squid, why this time are you more certain that the sound samples ( demos ) will be released next week? Did IKMM give you an exact date? And about these extra features being implemented that are taking longer time, are you in liberty to tell us something about them? Personally I think that IKMM has put it's hand on the demo version of GR2 ( that I am pretty sure of ) and liked what GR2 has done with the modulators ( modifiers ) and they are reproducing similar functionality, unplanned for, thus taking more time.

Oh, and Squids did you have any time at all to work on the presets as suggested in the AT2 preset thread?

I have been watching this thread for months (..) and submitted only one reply. Now I feel that Squids, being a very enthousiastic participant in this everlasting thread, seems to be overtaken by this supposedly fantastic software. And in the middle between the forumites and IK. Now IK is Italian ....: deadlines and promises are relative (tomorrow Amice!) but the endresult may be great (think Ferrari). Let us just wait and see what happens and make music in the meantime.

can anyone confirm that the delay is NOT caused by the need to rewrap the code so that it will be protected by a new version of the dongle driver

becuase the most recent synchrosft driver (used for the dongle ) has been cracked

Actually, Eric, I do believe that it will use the next syncrosoft incarnation which would take a little bit of time but not much. So, that isn't the hold up. And no A3ntar I am not at liberty to say. I can tell you a few things it isn't though and it isn't that they're looking at GR2 and thinking how to copy anything in it like modulations etc. That whole modulation stuff is VERY NI and I happen to like that kind of thing because I am a tweaky synth keyboard player. But for a guitarist, AT2 is more straightforward like a Bradshaw rig, and that trademark AT custom amp shop style and probably a lot easier to use overall.

Also, you know I never said GR was bad. I happen to be a big fan of NI stuff. SR even did sounds for the Kontakt 2 factory bank and close to half the sounds for Bandstand. I think Reaktor is brilliant (even though I barely have time to have fun with such a tool). But, for my tastes AT2 just hits the nail on the head for guitar and effects processing software. It really is a great work that IK has done and believe me I want it out as soon as possible too because I know esoundz will sell a ton of them. Oh, and I don't know why anyone would think twice about the "buy AT1 and get AT2 free" deal. That is the best way to go because at WORSTE case you just buy AT1 for its already discounted price (used to be $399 MSRP itself and now you can get it for $250 or less) -AND- you get to keep using it as well when you get your AT2 for free and they DO sound different (and the AT2 will not read AT1's great presets). So, really, I am not just hyping the idea with no substance. If you are seriously thinking about it this is a great way to go because you can't lose (like I said, it is just like buying AT1 ANYWAY which is worth it... after all it did get 11 awards from the mags and has thousands of happy users). Well, I know some will and have taken that advice and some won't for their own reasons. No probs.

The reason I think the audio demos will be next week is because I already heard some so it must be soon PLUS... I have to think that they will be because I was told this was going on line soon. But, rather than guess I will ask tomorrow and let you guys know. How's that?

As for posting some music made with AT2... that's not a bad idea. I might do that. Maybe that wouldn't be bad. In fact, we are about to release a library of Rock Grooves (in Rex2 and Wave) and to make an audio demo for that I can have a guitarist play along through AT2 (convenient example of how I might gravitate to AT2 for the ease of getting a great sound quickly). Just understand it won't be the "official" demos. But, you can at least hear how good it sounds! I bet the IK audio demos will be up before I get my Rock Grooves demo done though!

Still, maybe it will be interesting to hear both.

Ouch, what is the next syncrosoft incarnation gets pirated as well? what then? will they wait for the next next incarnation? I seriously hope that this isn't the only reason holding them.

Squids, can you please find out as well if IKMM upgrade offer from AT1->AT2's deadline is still the end of the month of decembre? That doesn't leave us a big window of oppurtinity. I hope IKMM extends that period

Like I said, this would be the reason for the delay but it may very well be implemented. As to "what if" etc. I can only guess here but I am sure that the companies that use the protection will do their new versions updates with the new version updates of the syncrosoft protection which will keep hackers busy to the end of time if that is what they want. The app isn't the only thing that is protected too. I am sure there is a certain point where those people might consider how much work it takes to continue to rip off software companies and get tired. But, anyway, I really don't want to discuss THAT kind of unfortunate crap.

well I'm not sure - I guess it's the challenge that keeps those folks going...

and the harder it is too crack the bigger is the success...

I guess the best copy protection is to sell software that is worth the asked price and hat anybody who uses it should feel the need to pay since it's giving him so much pleasure - but I guess people are just not like that....
