Right then...if you would be so kind as to humour me yet again...constructive opinions please, something I can work with. This amp modelling game is just a side interest of mine that I don't have alot of time for, but I should like to know how some of you accomplished guitar players think these models compare to other ampsims you are on about. I have Amplitude1 so I don't need that comparison.

These are sounding rather fine, kilroy.

Hey Kilroy,

well, got no tomatoes at hand. So what is it?

Taste again... I wish I had tomatoes though... :P

Sascha and fritzman...perhaps quite surprisingly...I lashed these up on Alien Connections Revalver.

Bizarre, to be sure, but true. :?

Hi Kilroy,

why bizarre? I think Revalver is one of the most underrated amp sim plugins out there. I find myself using it a lot. It requires a bit of tweaking (the 10-band graphic eq is great for that), but usually gives me what I need. It does wonderful growling bass sounds, too. At a rather negligeable CPU hit. Can sound really awful though, if you don't take the time to tweak. Most of the presets it comes with are pretty weak.

Cheers

Alex

P.S.:The NI GR interface was clearly inspired by Revalver.

Revalver... huh! Never tried that. Maybe I should.

You might have problems there, Sascha. It's DX only, and because it uses MIDI for control it installs as a DX synth. There's a standalone version that comes with the plugin, but I've never had much luck with it as a standalone.

It IS a cool plugin, but I prefer GR with guitars. Revalver's great on synth, though :)

One of the secrets of getting the most out of Revalver is ignoring all the rules pertaining to module chaining. For example, Revalver will politely inform you that you can have only one preamp in the chain...but will nevertheless process the sound through two or more regardless. Sometimes you will be told you cannot place an EQ in a certain position...go ahead and do it anyway.

You have alot of pre/post preamp, poweramp, speaker cabinet EQing available...you can carve and shape the tone anywhere, and to whatever degree you like.

Although Revalver might not be the best real time solution, I have found alot to like about it in terms of re-amping guitars and basses, adding some dirt to "too clean" organ and synth sounds, and such. I personally prefer the guitar tones I can lash out of Revalver to any I could get with Amplitude. I always seemed to be able to get more torque and penetration out of Revalver...you could get a fat, meaty attack and a nice dense distortion that didn't sound like a bag full of angry wasps.
