Hi guys,

tomorrow I am gonna bye me a present: E-MU Xboard 49. I was wondering if I could use its rotary knobs to control volume and pan filters in T1. I searched for similar threads with no luck. I am affraid that this is not straightforward but is there some workaround? Note that I never head a midi controller so I'm totally ... clueless.

PS I think I figured out how to control specific parameters of VST instruments using haydxn's excellent MouseWheel CC but if you have some useful tips on the use of a midi keyboard/controller with T1 you are welcome

there is no midi mapper in T1

you will only be able to adjust vst's that support midi controll (there other vol/pan plugins out there that will let you controll them via midi, but i dont know there names

Thanks Subz (I was ready to bump it). Your idea about other vol/pan midi controllable plugins is interresting. I 'll just have to set-up a new T template.

Now let's find those plug-ins ...

That's what I was looking for right now. Maybe the latest version of cc-rider is the answer ...

"CC_Rider now supports "record mode." As a tracktion user, you might already have midi clips which contain midi cc data. You might also wish to convert those existing clips of midi-cc data into tracktion vst automation curves, so you can make further adjustments using tacktion's automation tool as opposed to the pencil tool and piano-roll. Record mode makes this possible. When in record mode, midi-CC's received by cc_rider are not passed, but captured. They are then instantly converted into vst parameter automation values. In order to sucessfully record vst parameter automation values, you must put tracktion into record automation mode as well... press play, and then let cc_rider do it's thing in real-time. In the end, you will have a parameter automation curve(s) for the recorded cc(s) in cc_rider, which will resemble the original midi-cc values from the clip. cc_rider will automatically adjust to the proper midi channel when in record mode as well. For normal usage, record mode should be off. "

Now all I need is an explanation of how to CC->VST automation using cc_rider... (ModulR..., are you there ?)

i dont THINK! it works this way,

i think it only converts vst automation to midi cc not the other way round (but if any body knows of a plug that dose that would be way cool ;)

that was its initial and main purpose I suppose, but according to the accompanying txt file it may be able to do it the other way round ...

If you convert to automation, then if you move the clip, the automation will not move with it like cc data does.

Besides that, it is easy to do in tracktion. Create a midi controller map (bottom option under automation). Click on the left side of the box and turn a controller knob, then select pan or volume on the right side... repeat as needed, then start playing and twisting knobs... works fine
