I'm sorely tempted by Voxformer at £25 (and I even helped to sell one in this thread )

Is anyone using this as a utility channel strip plugin or does the specialism in vocal processing mean it has limitations in other areas ?

your thoughts, commmunity ? :-)

ps - I have downloaded the demo and I'm playing with it, before you harangue me :hihi:

I like using "other things" as channels strips... for example camel space as a channel strip :)
is voxformer on 25 pounds? then it's a perfect candidate for "merry christmas jørn. to me from me :) "

voxformer is an awesome channel strip...if I were to only have one DP pluggin it would be without a doubt voxformer...:)

you are obviously thinking of a different thing than me when you write DP , Hink :hihi:

do you find it useful on drums bass, guitar ???

(and what DO you mean by DP ? :-o )

It was me, scuzz! :D

Perhaps, I can return the favor? What I liked about the Voxformer was the fact that it didn't eat too much of my CPU and offered a great variation on the colours that it provides. To get the same overall effect, I'd have to chain quite a few other devices, as most channel strips don't have the compressors, let alone dualies. Ergo, this unit is much more efficient (i.e. GUI; CPU) and doesn't tax the bank account, particularly at this price.

DP dynamic processing ;) I have used it on drums (especially on the snare) and on bass. Both were awesome, but prompted me to get more Voxengo stuff...but voxformer is just so flexible it's amazing. It excels at much more then just vocals....:)

Scuzzphut, The limitation is that the compressor(s) have been optimized for vocal processing.
Attack, release and ratio can not be modified.

Works great on acoustic guitare too.

that's true, but the lack of the three are hardly noticed imo by the addition of some other great features like the presence, the de-essor and the eq. The "simplified comp is very useful itself. However the de-essor's is so flexible it can do more then just de-essing...the eq just plain kicks ass...my suggestion is try the demo, but keep your credit crd handy...;)

I agree. After all, Voxformer is a vocal channel strip. It's functionality is not really limited- just aimed at a particular application. Personally, this suits me fine, as I had to chain together a number of other (UAD-1) effects just to try and match Voxformer for my vocal tracks. The fact that it can be used for other applications is a bonus.

Hink's suggestion is a good one, as I bought this, after a few twists and turns. :D

so - it's not that good, then ? :hihi:

I'll play some more with the demo, I think.

Thanks again for the feedback chaps ! :D
