Thanks for the feedback so far guys. :D

I agree that EnergyXT's demo restriction is genius (what's not genius about that program?), but that sort of demo restriction is really only good for something complex and host-y like well, a host.

I know I didn't specify that I meant instruments/FX, so that's my fault.

Why note offer multiple demos with different limitations?

Because that would require multiple work to make multiple demos. :(

So it's agreed then, Jack should do more work.

:hihi:

Lack of, or not enough quality presets.

For me, the WORST demo restriction is a time limit per use, like it times out after 30 minutes and you have to reload. At least if the plug-in is complex, the most important thing for me is to get experience programming it myself, and if I'm trying to figure out, say, how to modulate Pan with an LFO, I hate feeling like it's a race against the clock.

I really don't mind noise bursts (although LinPlug's are a bit loud). I don't like the sound dropping out -- I agree with kevink on that, I always think "wtf did I just change an envelope setting or something?"
If you like 80s retro sounds, check out my latest tune…

random static burts, then when you buy the plug no white noise at all :x
what a swizz!

if i demo hardware i get a 72 hour demo period, same would be good i guess
:ud:

Bollocks, I meant to click on the [x] amount of uses option.

i voted presets only, this can often put me off buying a synth if i cant play with it as i would
i guess i just like to get a feel for its internal capacity not what the dev made it for.

Agreed. Noise bursts freak me out and make me start thinking I've got a problems with my soundcard or something.

If they want to encourage people to buy instead of mooching, maybe instead of nag screens they should randomly put up pictures of porn and then if you buy the software you get a password to the porn site free for a month. Mmm, porn! :hihi:

R66 has the worst ive ever heard, a loud beep which prevents you from being able to properly demo the damn thing.

voxengo demos are the best.

You made me giggle inside.

Oh for christ's sake. I'm so used to the "best" threads. Limited number of uses is the best for me. Noise bursts or other grating audio anomalies are the worst.

But seeing as you are researching for your product, a best thread would probably be more useful. The worst only rules out the method you hate the most, leaving you with the ones you casually despise.

All demo restrictions are frustrating. That's the idea.

The thing I hate the most is when a demo grabs your balls and rotates them 270 degrees and then pisses in your mouth whilst you're screaming in agony.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.
