Survey = What's the most -annoying- demo restriction?

I agree that EnergyXT's demo restriction is genius (what's not genius about that program?), but that sort of demo restriction is really only good for something complex and host-y like well, a host.

I know I didn't specify that I meant instruments/FX, so that's my fault.

For me, the WORST demo restriction is a time limit per use, like it times out after 30 minutes and you have to reload. At least if the plug-in is complex, the most important thing for me is to get experience programming it myself, and if I'm trying to figure out, say, how to modulate Pan with an LFO, I hate feeling like it's a race against the clock.

I really don't mind noise bursts (although LinPlug's are a bit loud). I don't like the sound dropping out -- I agree with kevink on that, I always think "wtf did I just change an envelope setting or something?"

i voted presets only,this can often put me off buying a synth if i cant play with it as i would
i guess i just like to get a feel for its internal capacity not what the dev made it for.

noise bursts are definitely the most annoying to me. if a dev feels they must choose that...i find that occasional, low-moderate volume, soft noise is the easiest variant for me to endure. loud, harsh noise (and any beeps) can become sales deterrants. its one thing to protect your product and try to 'encourrage' people to buy it instead of mooching.

If they want to encourage people to buy instead of mooching, maybe instead of nag screens they should randomly put up pictures of porn and then if you buy the software you get a password to the porn site free for a month. Mmm, porn!

R66 has the worst ive ever heard, a loud beep which prevents you from being able to properly demo the damn thing.

But seeing as you are researching for your product, a best thread would probably be more useful. The worst only rules out the method you hate the most, leaving you with the ones you casually despise.
