Hi luisi,
Thanks for the update, but it still doesn't seem quite right.
- setting the pitch bend range to 1 reveals a whole tone bend, not a semi-tone as is usually expected
- about halfway up and down the pitch bending the sound stops. it sounds like it stops when it's on a particular number because quick movements are tolerated. but it's about halfway up and down that it cuts out.
sorry about the (above) bad news.
edit: actually - scratch that - seems to whenever the pitch bend is in use..

I just bought Modelonia this morning, so I want to watch this thread.
Can't wait to get home and try it out.

as for the range, sorry I forgot to give this

to extend the menu to 24 st,
concerning the stopped sound, may please give the preset with the issue?, I have no problem here

Hi,
read the word update somewhere with great anticipation
Presumably I'm just blind - but where can I find it?
*edit* oh, going back one page really helps. Thank you very much! That's what I call a good and blinding fast support!
Greetings,

NothanUmber, if your downloaded 1.0 already
you find 1.0.0.1 at the same place, <grin>

Have only made some very short tests (it's nearly 2 am here
) so more to come tomorrow:
* pitch over all eight (2x4) octaves works now with the horn template
* one hears crackles if one changes the pitch (I also have a similar effect with Cameleon but was able to at least reduce it a little by reducing the number of pitch bend events and increasing the soundcard latency. Haven't tried to optimize it for the new Modelonia version yet.)
* the gui shows the following pitch values: off,1,2,...12,+1,+2,...+12 instead of off,1,2,...,24 even if the new skin set is installed.
Otherwise a great addition! (And as said: further tests to come)
Greetings,
NothanUmber
P.S.: Could you please use different VST ids for the demo and the full version, it's a little bit like russish roulette each time which version wins the fight in bidule as there is only one entry

Hi,
have played a little bit more with the new Modelonia update today. Here some outcomes:
* the crackling could be defeated using the bidule version of my controller logics rather than the SynthMaker one (as it's not possible to use the SM version as a vst atm. I had to run both programs in parallel and route the output of the one to the other. Presumably they interfered for some reason) So it wasn't Modelonia's fault at all
* something is a little bit odd with the pitch bending: In a broader area around the base note pitch (the pitch that is encoded in the note on event) the pitch bend events don't seem to have an effect at all. And after bending the pitch approximately a tritone upwards or a third downwards the pitch suddenly jumps to the expected pitch (if one continues to go upwards/downwards then the pitch continuously changes as expected, if one goes back to the critical area the pitch instantly jumps back to the base pitch and stays there until one leaves the area again)
* the flute template seems to have problems with bending up over more than an octave (the sound stops after that bending range). If one turns down the gain of the pick to zero the problem vanishes so the problem could be related to that part.

Hi Luisi,
I've been looking at this pitch bend problem again and here are the facts:
- using any of the sound wizard presets the problem is revealed
- press and hold a note or chord and shift the pitchbender up or down slowly
- when the pitch bender is mid-point between fully up or down the sound cuts out
- the problem exhibits itself even when pitchbend is set to OFF
(time passes - testing in plogue bidule)
I've been looking at the pattern of numbers produced by a slow drop with the pitchbenders on my roland pc-180a and jd-800 - the pc180a are massively coarse:
the D2 column is the pitch amount in hex.
Tick BO ST D1 D2 CH Event
02CA2200 000 E0 24 29 01 Pitch Bend
02CAB600 000 E0 1C 27 01 Pitch Bend
02CB0C00 000 E0 14 25 01 Pitch Bend
02CB3400 000 E0 0B 23 01 Pitch Bend
02CB7200 000 E0 03 21 01 Pitch Bend
02CBAE00 000 E0 7B 1E 01 Pitch Bend
02CBC600 000 E0 73 1C 01 Pitch Bend
02CBD000 000 E0 6A 1A 01 Pitch Bend
02CBDE00 000 E0 62 18 01 Pitch Bend
02CC6200 000 E0 5A 16 01 Pitch Bend
well every other two atleast, where jd-800 has a lot more granularity:
Tick BO ST D1 D2 CH Event
03466A00 000 E0 12 25 01 Pitch Bend
03466C00 000 E0 72 24 01 Pitch Bend
03466E00 000 E0 52 24 01 Pitch Bend
03467400 000 E0 32 24 01 Pitch Bend
03467A00 000 E0 12 24 01 Pitch Bend
03467C00 000 E0 71 23 01 Pitch Bend
03468400 000 E0 51 23 01 Pitch Bend
03468600 000 E0 31 23 01 Pitch Bend
03468E00 000 E0 11 23 01 Pitch Bend
03469800 000 E0 71 22 01 Pitch Bend
03469A00 000 E0 51 22 01 Pitch Bend
0346A000 000 E0 31 22 01 Pitch Bend
I only seem to have the problem when I'm using the pc180a, perhaps it's the only midi controller which has this large incrementaion in the pitchbender, which makes it unfortunately unusable with modelonia. would you be able to fix this?
Thanks CB

Hello,
I have to add smoother interpolation to fix this pitch bend issue,
EVE 2 is taking all my working time right now, but I'll try to do that ASAP
BTW some settings, like flutes, are pretty normal to not support the full -+24 st range
that's physical!, <grin>

What makes me wonder though is that it isn't the lips/horn duo that makes the sound stop at higher registers but the pick. And this doesn't seem to happen with pure plucked sounds so it seems to have to do with the interaction of the two synthesis engines. (In other words: It's a specific physical restriction of windstring instruments

ok, honestly that's so complex that I'm not sure to understand all it happens, <grin>so it seems to have to do with the interaction of the two synthesis engines
but that exciting at the same time

ah, still some Christmas Sale Modelonias left, presumably there are thousands of potential buyers out there that are just anxiously waiting for the pitch bend fix...

28 left, and the smoother pitch bend will come soon,
<grin>, next year, LOL
