works fine on my Evo n600c laptop- Tracktion 1.x and Windows XP sp1. If it sounds too bassy in your mix, throw a high-pass (around 200hz) after it. CPU utilization is pretty managable.
This does the modern thing better than anything else I've encountered.
I wish it wasn't going to be hundreds of euros, but for some reason, thats what these things sell for. Probably out of reach for a lot of people, but others won't take it seriously if its less expensive. Double-edged sword.
Perhaps we might see a couple of individual amps like this one available at lower cost. Less functionality, of course- wider audience.

The amp sounds great! Getting an awesome bluesy tone on it with my Strat in the 4th pickup position. Great stuff, can't wait to see the real deal.
Thanks for the Xmas gift, Rene!

I checked and saw I hit a button by exident before...
Made a new DLL.
Now the bass is like it should be.
Please everybody download again,
sorry about that.

I'm sorry if it sounded like I was complaining- I wasn't. It certainly didn't sound bad without the high-pass, just sits easier in the mix with the bass cut back a little bit.Midiworks wrote:Thanks for the info, chrishurley wrote:If it sounds too bassy in your mix, throw a high-pass (around 200hz) after it. edit: is there a difference in the two versions? I stuck them both on a track so I could pan between them and I can't hear a difference (with my hi-pass removed)

Tried the new version, I really like the character, although even in this new version, I had to make very narrow -10 Db cut at 150 Hz to get rid of a thump. I guess it has something to do with the guitar cab version you have used in this small xmas plugin? It is muddy a bit too, so it does need some high boost too. Not that I am complaining on a gift, just want to give back some usefull coments from a player.
It looks like amp modeling is great but speaker simulation is a bit strange, like microphone was picking up a bit of early reflections in a very small room, if you know what I think. Maybe some more distortion, being able to push gain some more?
Any way, if rest of the amp is of this quality, it is a really good work. Much more realistic behaviour when playing compared to all other commercial software sims I have played!
EDIT: one question...Is there any possibility that this "proper" version has a bit less of gain? Because it seems, I can't make pinch harmonics really work, no matter how hard I hit the strings, and I think it was easier with first, "bad" version of plugin?

Tja, sonicfire, there is way more than meets the eye.sonicfire wrote:one year and 5 months and all you got is that one-thing SE demo? where´s the full blown demo like that screeny?
(sorry, couldn´t resist).
SE is only the shell to put things together,
many parts are hand coded in C++ and than integreated.
I think the time was and is well spend,
because there is nothing like this on the market.
The big boys tried but all failed...
This is NOT a demo !
Its a Christmas gift.

Guess it depends on the studio monitors.Vervil wrote:Tried the new version, I really like the character, although even in this new version, I had to make very narrow -10 Db cut at 150 Hz to get rid of a thump.
Here, most of the frequencys sound just like the real $2000 amp.
Yes, the cab IS very muddy and dark but this givesI guess it has something to do with the guitar cab version you have used in this small xmas plugin? It is muddy a bit too, so it does need some high boost too.
a lot of the caracter.

Hm, I dont think so.EDIT: one question...Is there any possibility that this "proper" version has a bit less of gain? Because it seems, I can't make pinch harmonics really work, no matter how hard I hit the strings, and I think it was easier with first, "bad" version of plugin?
I only activated the lowcut.(130hz or so.)
Try:
Find a good setting for your guitar and playing.
To turn all full up, is NOT the way to do it.
(Input knob ca. 12 o'clock, Response ca 3-4 o'clock)
Try to make it feel like a real amp, than its right.
Turn off Boost, set Drive to 9 o'clock,
Response at max.
Now play with lots of dynamic.
The more you lower the Response knob,
the more distortion you get.
Dont go too low (3-4 o'clock),
but raise instead the Drive.
Once you find the right ballance,
Input, Response, Drive, all should work well.

Thanks for clearing it up Rene. Yes, sound becomes less thumpy when I decrease input. I have done the input boost without thinking, because other soft sims sound a bit better with hotter input.
What guitars do you have? I have tried it with Valley Arts , Joe Burden pickups, usually when I am playing, most of distortion comes from amp, those pickups are very clean ad defined. I guess people using active EMG's or hotter passives made for distortion will get instant better results with this plugin as far as having "distortion at 11" sound goes.
Not that I think you will go back and make "bypass box" button on a plugin...
will try to do a short demo for fun tomorrow, but I'm not sure how to make amp really "sit" in the mix and work with the bass without altering the sound drastically, so I hope you won't mind me EQ-ing hell out of rhythm guitars to make them sound like they were miked closely and on axis, more present?

Can't argue about a gift, but really a strange choice for this small plug, because in real life situation, 99% of higain guitars is recorded with dynamic mic right on the speaker cone, I would never mic a Boogie off axis, it is muddy enough on its ownYes, the cab IS very muddy and dark but this gives
a lot of the caracter. Wink

WOW I start to believe now.....
I just want to say that regardless of the sound, cabinet, mic and mic position this thing sounds like the real thing.
What I like about it the most is that it reacts very well to anything you put before it or after it, just like a real amp, without getting "artificial" weirdness.
Everybody! just try a little EQ before and/or after the amp and you will see what I mean.
You can heavily shape this thing into many things without getting weird reactions.
WELL DONE
THANK YOU

Hey Rene - is that A/B button supposed to do something? It doesn't react when I click on it...
