Sample Tank Issues

Some of the SampleTank instruments cause problems with Receptor. Most notably, the Miroslav instruments, and a bunch of the Piano and Strings instruments. In all, I found about 15 or so instruments that would not work and I only went through about 25% of my library.
These are the steps to recreate:
1. Run Receptor VNC viewer on computer. Receptor is plugged into my ethernet hub.
2. Connect to Receptor.
3. Load SampleTank into first slot, channel 1.
4. Go to Edit screen and load up one of the instruments that doesn't work.
5. Press a key on a midi keyboard or the graphic keyboard on the Edit screen.
6. An audible click is heard from Receptor and the screen is filled with an image of the Receptor. The mouse icon turns into a 4-way crosshair.
7. After a few seconds, the Receptor Mixer window is back on the screen but SampleTank is no longer in the first slot.
During the blank out time, Receptor did not reboot itself. That is, it did not shut down and restart. It just went bye-bye for a few seconds.
Any patch that doesn't work, doesn't work consistently.
Any ideas?
Ned

Sorry, we dont have Mirsolav libraries handy. Tell me a patch from the standard piano or strings libraries which is all i have for internal testing right now.
Also, are you loading the piano/strings from the receptorized patches or from the sampetank gui?

You have to log on to the "User Area" at:DanTimis wrote:Could you provide a link? I cannot find these samples.
http://www.sampletank.com/STRegUsersArea.html
Then click "Download Software update and free content" and you'll see a SampleTank download for some free Miroslav sounds. You have to be a registered user for the full ST2.0XL to get this link I think.
Just now, I downloaded these and moved them into a new folder I created at c:\Samples\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 2\STInstruments\Miroslav
and then all hell broke loose! I launched ST and it acted like I had never registered it. So I re-entered the registration stuff, and then all was well.
FYI: I am able to load these Miroslav sounds fine (from the ST sounds browser of course).
Another FYI: I am having the same problem originally reported in this thread when I load certain sounds in ST and SS2 from the "receptorized" versions, though I can then load the same sound from the ST/SS browser fine. BUT, I cannot always recreate it consistantly.
One sound in the SS2 <B Pianos> bank called "Grandio" did this several times to me. Loading the receptorized version caused a reboot, loading from SS2, no prob. Once you load it from SS2, though, then you can load it (and others) from the receptorized banks without the reboot.
Hope this helps,
John

Hi,
I managed to download the free Miroslav sounds from IK.
- The registration information remained consistent. It did not unregister itself upon loading Miroslav as expected. I am not sure what went wrong in your case.
- Loading Miroslav sounds worked fine at the top layer like FULL Strings and so on.
- SS2 > B Pianos > Grandio receptor patch does not load from the receptor patches, until u load it once from the SS2 gui. After that point they work well. This is a known problem for some receptor patches and not all. The receptor patches have been loaded correctly, it may just require one loading from the GUI to sync it all up..

Thanks Farhan. this doesn't bother me in the least, as I tend to load ALL mine from the GUI anywayfarhan wrote: This is a known problem for some receptor patches and not all. The receptor patches have been loaded correctly, it may just require one loading from the GUI to sync it all up..

I am also only loading them from the GUI. And, like others, my results are inconsistent. Sometimes, they don't work, reboot, and then they seem to work fine. However, I am still having issues with some of the strings like I mentioned before. Overall though, now 95% of the patches load without incident.
Another problem: When I create my own Bank & Patch with SampleTank the only VST and assigned to channel 1, if I reboot Receptor, it gets stuch on Loading Patch and never completes the reboot. I had to reboot by holding down multi and pressing On button 3 times (I think this is the way to clear out banks). Anyway, that worked and loaded up a blank patch.

FWIW, I have this problem as well. If I forget and do a triple-click reboot with ST2 loaded (or it ST2 reboots the machine itself when loading a sound), it gets stuck as noted above (you know it's stuck when the drive stops spinning). At this point, I have to do the dreaded "hold down the power button 5 seconds" to get it to power off, and then power on normally (and it loads the blank patch).nedrob wrote: Another problem: When I create my own Bank & Patch with SampleTank the only VST and assigned to channel 1, if I reboot Receptor, it gets stuch on Loading Patch and never completes the reboot. Only a minor annoyance, really...I wonder if ST 2.1 on Receptor will fix any of this?
And interestingly enough, SS2 doesn't have this problem at all.
