hey guys, just tried the newest update to Tracktion since I am still looking to switch from Cubase but Reason is still about 10 times slower than it is running through Cubase or Ableton Live. Is there a workaround for this ?

how do you mean slow? Less responsive?
Someone shot the food. Remember: don't shoot food!

yes. For instance it takes extremely long to load samples, around 4 times longer then rewired through other applications.

Any ideas ?

No problems here works fine

How do load times compare when Reason 3 is used standalone ?

EDIT: Never mind, I'll just stick with Cubase for now

I've experienced this. Try loading a epiano from the electromechanical refill in Reason standalone, and then rewired. On my system it takes at least twice as long rewired! I thought this was just a rewire problem though - since I have no other rewire apps to test.

ffloyd, thanks for confirming mate. I can definitely assure you that other ReWire hosts are way way way faster :)

Hope Tracktion fixes this one soon. It's been my main problem with it from the beginning to be honest.

hey there guys, just tried the newest update and still Reason 3.04 is impossible to use. Basically, not only do samples load very slowly but when I play a synth, I get stuttering in Tracktion and the VU meters in Reason are moving extremely slow.

Please note that this isn't a latency problem since the demo projects play perfectly.

I REALLY would like to get this working, any ideas ?

Does anyone have Reason 3.04 running ok with Tracktion 3 ?

I think this is a problem with every single host except cubase... Maybehas to do with the props and steinberg being buddies once upon a time?

Check your cpu + memory usage on your machine isn't maxed out, also do a search for rewire.dll and see how many show up on your machine. There may be more than one, Cubase and Tracktion may be using different versions of rewire.

For what it's worth (maybe not much), I don't seem to gt this behaviour on my machine ...
"my gosh it's a friggin hardware"

duplicate rewire dll's can be problematic.
I never used to have probs with tracktion of this nature & don't now using Ableton Live.
If any of you have dual core machines does setting tracktion & reasons affinity to seperate cores & see if that makes a difference.
Also try checking your graphics cards pci latency, if high maybe that is causing probs?
I may d/l the demo to check this out.

I posted this once on the props' forum, where users there too said this is a stagnat problem with no fix right now :(

I tried again and still get this problem with T2.1, using both Reason 3.0.4 and Live 5.0.3 as rewire slaves.

Reason rewired to Live is fine. Reason rewired to Sonar 5 PE is fine (although rewire in sonar is crap, but that's another story...) and Reason is fine within Audition as well.

The problem in Tracktion is that loading times are VERY slow indeed. It takes an age to load a sample in Reason when it is reloaded into Tracktion. And the GUI update is sluggish (although I have major GUI update problems in T2.1 in general, not just when using rewire, so that could be a seperate problem...)

A pity, because I still love the concept and layout of Tracktion. Hopefully in version three these issues will have been resolved, but as I understand from Beno, they require a full rewrite of Tracktion's audio engine, which ain't happening in the near future.
