Certainly so!

I got no doubt that there'll be a shitload of presets for each and every taste.

I still believe that it's better to have less presets with full XY support than many presets without that. Good XY support is IMHO key to diversity. 10 such presets can outweight 100 normal patches... they're so easy to tweak that even preset purists can do it, without ever touching the Synthesis page. I'm gonna write a patch design guide about this...

Hehe, not to forget, I'll announce a preset competition soonishly.

Cheers,

;) Urs

I dare to say, in common it's the GUI that dictates the feature set. If the GUI doesn't sport any empty space, one can't add anything without redesigning the whole stuff. Not so in Zebra - I can just add another module and boom there it is. Or add another entry in one of the drop down lists, such as new comb filter modes.
I like your way of thinking. This to me is an exciting bonus to getting in on the ground floor of a synth with a stellar reputation for sounding great. Since I'm learning all this synth programing as I go, I'm excited about the idea of a user-friendly modular approach. I'm still just wrapping my head around the PC beta, but it's indeed impressive.

I look forward to the help. User comments would be fine and all, but better an off-line version for those of us whose DAW isn't on the internet. I don't even care about pdf - in fact, I'll go so far as to say I'd rather a good html version. But something I can download and keep open when I'm tweaking.

I just gave you my money, so you can have a holiday drink on me!

Looking forward to the future builds.

I agree on this; a concept more or less proven with the FM7's easy page.

Hi Urs

Any news on the update before the World blows up at midnight on Saturday...Oh, hang on we're delaying the New Year by a couple of seconds this year, what am I going to do with the extra time...

I was kinda hoping I would get a go on the new stuff before having to leave my PC for a couple of days for the Celebrations.

Anyhow, try to remember to stop coding before New Year arrives and have a good one.

Hey, Friday...

So, a new build has gone out to testers. If everything works as expected, I'll send out notifications to everybody who downloaded the preview version, maybe in a few hours. This one will extend the expiration date by one month 8)

There's also gonna be an additional preset pack in approximately 2 weeks. And maybe a link to the online manual already (if I ever find the time to add all those nice graphics).

Other than that, everything goes depressingly slow. Gotta find little tricky solutions for things that I've postponed to, uhm, now. However, there are good concepts for most of these things already, so I guess throughout January we will see the advent of everything missing.

As this is the last Friday in 2005:

Happy New Year to all readers!

Cheers,

;) Urs

The Zebra PC demo doesn't work for me now. The only thing changed on my end is that I upgraded to Sonar 5 from Cakewalk HS (Zebra worked before). GUI shows up but I can't access the presets.

Anyone know about this?

Have you got the new version for 30/12/05? - I've sent out a notification to everyone who downloaded the original preview...

Yes I do, Zebra2.dll, date modified 12/30/2005 1:51 PM.

Sound plays. I can mess with the OSCs and features.

Preset window reads "Zebra 2.0.2 Module Playground" when it loads up, but clicking the arrows only brings me to "INITIALIZE".

Presets page displays the names of the preset folders in the left pane, but clicking them doesn't bring up the presets anymore, though they are there in my VST folder.

What's wrong?

@eatnatives

This could be related to the mis-understanding I had over the presets location a week or so back when I first tried Zebra.

When Zebra is installed it sets up a Database for the presets in your Windows Program Folder (assuming your using Windoz OS, don't know about MAC, sorry). If you look in the programs folder for a folder called u-he. The u-he folder should have a sub folder called Presets. This contains another sub folder Zebra2. This is the location that the presets are saved to/work from. Check to see the presets are present in this location and not somehow corrupt...

I don't know if this will help your problem, but it won't hurt to have a look.
Hopefully I have explained this OK. If not my apologies to Urs and yourself. I am sure Urs will post soon and correct any discriptive rubbish on my part.

Good luck, Dunc 8)

Dunc-

Thanks. You're right.

I wasn't thinking in terms of the installer, because the new zip doesn't include one. Had my stuff in a different folder, but had empty U-he preset folder in Program Files.

Ouch!

I have nothing great to say. Except, I was just surprised by someone who sent 42 amazing presets a couple of minutes ago. Stunning! Gonna put these up next week. Along with another bunch of seriously great patches.

And tonite is a little international osxaudio meeting in my fav pub. So, my thoughts are with beer currently.

Laterz,

;) Urs

I'll drink to that!
