Tracktion Software

Ugh.
I love my tracktion, but I'm going nuts. I've got the same problem as this guy

this is mine:
RECORD ERROR: The Directory: /Volumes/Son et Luce/Songs/Bible doesn't exist or doesn't have write access.

the solution in that post didn't work for me.
I've tried:
new project
trash prefs
fresh install (fresh download)

I'm pretty sure that I haven't recorded audio (tascamUS-122) in a couple of version updates, so I'm not sure how far back this problem goes.

Mac OS 10.3.9
Tracktion 2.0.2.8
Tascam US-122 USB interface

done, yes, many times-to no avail.

That was the solution in the post referenced, didn't work for me.

I've actually had to stop using Tracktion on my PC because of a problem not unlike yours. I can't help but think - 'what if Jules hadn't sold out...'

I'm pretty on top of all that stuff (permissions, caches) and its a clean running machine. This laptop is dual purpose (graphics(work) and music) and music has its own partition.

Try making a new project on your desktop and see if it can record there. Based on the path you listed, you have created a folder at the root level of your drive called songs. If this is your OS drive then this is never recomended by good Mac OS principles as the root level of your drive is owned by root and not all applications have write access there. If you can make a new project on your desktop and it will record properly then this is most likely your problem. You should move your Songs directory into your user folder or onto a dedicated audio drive .

Thanks for dropping in Beno, 'Son et Luce' is the dedicated audio drive, 'Songs' is a folder on it. The track on the desktop is fine, the 4th new project on the audio drive (and the 5-8th) work fine.

It seems to be going now. 2 permissions repairs (I'd done 1 before posting) reinstalling my Tascam driver (? I'd gotten audio to show up fine, it just wouldn't record).

I seem to have a USB jack problem, thank you all for your help.

(but it wont record into the original problem projects?)

Hmm. Ok, so it's working now for new projects at least. Something must have gotten currupted along the way. Let's hope it stays fine for new projects. You could try making an archive of the old edit and then unpacking the archive into a new edit and see if they will record.

I haven't tried old projects yet, but I was able to just copy and paste into the working edits today. Again, thanks for your help.
