A bunch of old tapes to CD

I have a friend who has many older tapes of songs who wants me to put them on a CD. My first thought was "no" but I guess Ill help him out afterall. I believe them to be old family songs or something...nowhere near good quality

Ive done something similar to this before but it was a major pain in the butt because I had my interface set to record at 24bit instead of 16 bit.

I sat there playing the tape through my interface and through tracktion. As the track would end, Id simply stop recording and start again, leaving many tracks in the same edit...BUT they were at 24 bit so I had to go in and render down everything track by track.

Now if I record at 16 bit, shouldnt I be able to just take these sounds straight out of Tracktion without having to render EVERY track?

And...if I wanted to do some editing of these tracks, is there any way to batch process filters onto a whole slew of tracks?

If you don't want to spend any money, you'd be fffaaaaaaarrrr better using something such as audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ to do this.

You should be able to use the WAV files as they are, yes.

Reverse Engineer...why would I be better off using Audacity when I already have T1 and T2, and James...I dont have a clue what your talking about...what host? How is what possible?
