OT: Standalone EQ for Line-In Source?

This is way off-topic, but I always figure the greatest minds of KVR have to be on the T forum. :D

Does anyone know of a (preferably freeware) standalone equalizer that will work with a Line-In source (such as an IPod)? My Creative SBLive! (not on the DAW) has an EQ, but it's very ineffective. I could install T on this machine (or maybe MiniHost?) and use any of a number of VST EQ's, but I want it to be foolproof: hook up the source and the EQ is already loaded (I can handle the preloading) so that the source is EQ'd.

Anyone?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I could be wrong, but I believe you can get add-ons for WinAmp that will allow you to use whatever VST (including EQ ones, obviously!) that you want to. I can't say for sure since I don't use Winamp.

i dont see why youd want to do that, you have a plethora of EQ vst options you can run through realtime, and its non destructive...

That didn't make any sense, Ron.

Thanks for the replies guys (even you Ron :D ).

Greg, you're right. Winamp has a very nice EQ built into it, but I can't figure any way to make Winamp play the Line-In source. It always seeks a file, and this is an external source. That gives me ideas though, maybe I can find a player that does Line-In that offers EQ? I'll dig around. I did discover though, that the SBLive's EQ does not work on Line-In sources, so that's why I described it as "ineffective". Duh me.

Ron, this isn't to record the source, or use it in any host, thus the Off Topic designation. I would have to install T on this machine, and then load it each time someone wants to use the external source. Not very practical, especially if I'm not home!

I tried Tobybear's MiniHost, and it would do the trick, but I can't get a decent line level out of it no matter what I tweak. It's always significantly quieter than the direct line-in, requiring the PC speakers to be cranked up (which scares the hell out of the next person to use the PC).

I'm open to any other suggestions.
Thanks guys. :D

How about SAVIHost?

I had pretty much settled this issue by using a line-in plugin for Winamp (I should have updated this thread with that info).

BUT, Savihost kicks serious ass for this purpose. I can load SpinEQ! SpinEQ is very much a superior EQ to the one in Winamp (and is my all-time favorite VST EQ). My source material has never sounded this good, and SpinEQ is so easy to tweak for different music and then set up presets. I only wish it minimized to the system tray, but I'll live with that.

Thanks for the suggestion Aubrey. :D
Three different forums and you're the first to suggest Savihost.
