Just checked the AAR Demo.
Very user friendly, intuitive GUI! Good sound quality!

I'm missing something like a "modulation rate" parameter. Stronger modulation settings would sound nicer with a slower mod. rate!

What do you think?

Hi vanielik,

thanks for your interest in the AAR!

The modulation of the AAR is more than a simple chorus with depth- and rate-settings.

Due to this, we decided to give the user one single knob allowing modulation settings from light to strong modulation, according to our principle to keep the user interface clear and intuitive.

Internaly, simply spoken, it's kind of a "two in one" knob - lower settings affect the modulation depth, higher settings the speed of the modulation movement. But as mentioned before, it's a very complex modulation system and not so easy. :)

You can get the desired effect by keeping the modulation under ~30%. For harder modulation with rich movements let it go over ~40%.

We found this approach would fit the very most applications - of course not all, but then, our reverb would need hundereds of parameters... :)

Hope this helps! Don't hesitate to ask further questions, we appreciate to answer them!

Thanks!
I listened to the mod function basically with the reverb type set to "smooth". But now I found out, that the mod rate is dependent on the reverb type. The "large" and "open" rev. types work with slower rates. Very nice!

I still think I would appreciate to have some more tweaking possibilities in the "echo" and "modulation" section.
This could add some interesting spread/pan effects (that's something I like about the R66s - symmetry parameter).

kind regards,
vanielik

Nice to hear that! :)

Hmmm, we will think about that, but, of course, I cannot promise you anything... .

I strongly support vanielik's suggestions. Maybe the "echo" can even become more like a delay, with the reverb in the feedback loop. But that's maybe a different product (or page). But I would clearly appreciate if the modulation could be tweaked in more detail, including the stereo/3D-dimension.

cheers,

PS: Gutes Neues noch...

The modulation control is one parameter I was not fond of. I had used it in a couple of circumstances where I did not care for its effect and it sounded chorusy so I stopped using it thinking it basically a chorus effect. But now I just read from one above post that modulation behaves differently on different reverb types, so I played with it some more under different settings and it is indeed complex and more interesting than I had realized.

I don't want to have the AAReverb have lots of new controls added, but a few choice ones that added something useful would be fine. A couple other reverb types like plate would be nice.

Some people say in the above linked thread that AAR is not great for drums. I am interested what characteristics, present or missing, cause people to say this.
