Rack question.

I want to use a side-chain compressor on a track. I want to have occasional drum hits lower the volume on that track when they play so that the drum comes through clearer.

I put the compressor in a Rack and the inputs show up.
2 regular inputs and 2 sidechain inputs (it's a stereo job).

So I then figure that I need an aux send to send the drum triggers to the sidechain.

The problem is that I can't figure out how to get the aux send to feed into the sidechain inputs. I can only get it to feed into the regular inputs which then makes the drum hits play through the compressor track instesd of silently triggering the sidechain.

Can anyone explain how to do this?

I got it working, but I don't think I will be using the sidechaining after all. I don't like the way it sounds in this particular case.

I also found timing errors on the tracks that feed into the Rack wrapped compressor. Those tracks wound up being advances a bit and threw the timing off. I guess I would have to put a rack on all tracks to even things out.

I think the mackie comp plug needs PDC.

I was using the slim slow slider sidechain compressor. Maybe that one needs PDC as well.

I dunno offhand. An easy way to find out is to drop the plug on an empty track and look to see if the track advance value changes.
