Hey Rene,

about the guitar thingy: Do you have an electric guitar there where you are and are you using it? I mean what does a 1863 Les Paul benefit you when you don't have it in Thailand when making your amp sim plugin? This all sounds so strange to me ... :shrug:

I don't know how a 5150 sounds or what is it for that mater but your clip sounds impressive on it's own.

Do you have a timeline in mind?
Any idea when we will see something finished and ready for purchase?

While we're waiting for Fritz opinion, I think it would be nice on this kind of clip to play 1 or 2 sustained chords to see how the distortion behaves. I think there's a nice fat quality to the saturation, a tight bottom end (which I think is your plugin's signature ;))... I would EQ it though to make it less muffled, but I guess your purpose is to post RAW tones, which makes sense.

Juicy77 seems to simulate bleed from an optoisolator or something- there is a persistent lowlevel buzz in it. I suspected this was intentional since this is a characteristic of the amp he was modelling and the author confirmed. It will likely be removed in a future version.

I too liked the Juicy 77 clean sound other than the buzz which is actually pretty low level. The dirty sound is probably my current favorite now that I have a new set of phones.

Rene's xmas tube is right there with it though- I haven't mastered post-EQ'ing it yet. :)

There's a couple of goals: get people in the door/ get them excited and then later give them something else to buy that enhances their satisfaction without making them feel like you're ripping them off.

I'm sure that if you sold a base kit that had 3-5 amps for $59, you'd sell piles of them. If additional kits were available for $49 or so, you'd have a steady stream of additional purchases. If the initial price went to $100 and add-ons were $39, I think it would still work.

I'm pretty sure you'll sell orders of magnitude more at <$100 than at ~$200 and I'd expect less piracy, though piracy is inevitable.

For me, I love add-on products as long as they are affordable and fall under the wire of "discretionary spending". I'd never pay $400 for a set of amp sims, no matter how good it is. never. $200 is a possibility but I'd have to really, really think about it and really, be blown away. I wouldn't even blink at spending $59, and $99 would only require mild debate (unless it was for only one amp)

Anyway, just some thoughts tossed around about how one guy thinks.

I think everyone believes you've got a winner- selling a base kit might let you get it out sooner and get some money rolling in to help further development. Of course we know you're the boss. :)

Another thing that could attract people, besides an affordable price, would be the creation of a community (via a forum on Soundspectral site for example) dedicated to the quest of the killer tone using your plugin (kind of like the toontrack forum for DFHS, Har-Bal forum where users help each other out mastering their projects), with hints as to how to EQ, Compress, mix the guitar tracks, etc... because I think a lot of people are lost in the endless possibilities to craft their sound, and in the end, they find themselves wondering what makes a good guitar tone. If you have killer demos and the details for how to achieve this result using your plug-in, you'll catch the people's attention.
