..select all the tracks you'd like to route into a sub-track (shift + left click) and press a short cut key (or button in the properties panel).

Then a new track is created either above or below the selected tracks which has a name like GROUP [..track name..] and has all the selected tracks routed to it and then routed itself to the default audio out/ midi out.

Not much of a time saver I know but I thought it Tracktionesk and makes creating sub groups a cinch.

I like this.
What about having "new track" as a destination on the list in the properties panel?

A nice addition to this feature would be a "select all tracks routed to this track" option. Then all track can be minimized/ maximized together.

Is this any different than the folder tracks FR which has been running for some time? If not, then add me to the list of users that would use the feature.

It isn't folder tracks, just a simple extension of what we already have. It'd dovetail extremely nicely with folder tracks though!

I guess you're right-- it's close, but not quite the same as the full 'folder tracks' model that's been discussed. Folder Tracks could prove more flexible in the long run, but this is still a bang-on good idea.

if the sub-track had an option in the properties panel to make visible/ invisible or expand/ colapse all the tracks (and potentially sub-groups) that feed into it you would have a folder track type thing.

[These sub-group tracks would have to be marked in some to show they had invisible tracks feeding into them]
