sorry, but you're the ass here, Fritzemann - you asked about the weather and he answered 'it's getting back to normal' - you misunderstoodd him and rolled your eyes at him and then asked 'what is getting back to normal' to which he replied 'you asked for the weather' and now your still rolling you eyes at him - chill, dude - you simply misunderstood him... - what you are complaining about is written on a totally different page - it has nothing to do with your question about the weather which he simply and honestly answered...

Hey Jensybaby!

while you call me an ass I can not hold it against you that you either have not read the last 5 pages of this thread or that your short time memory lost you on this occasion. But as nice as I can be when I want to I quote myself here for you:
fritzman wrote:Hey Rene,

about the guitar thingy: Do you have an electric guitar there where you are and are you using it? I mean what does a 1863 Les Paul benefit you when you don't have it in Thailand when making your amp sim plugin? This all sounds so strange to me ...

All the best, FRitz

And no, your third clip doesn't sound like a 5150 either. Maybe it's time for your next visit in a decent music shop after 5 years to listen again how all these amps do sound in real life. Wink
This was the posting I referred to when I said that Rene didn't answer ALL my questions. My questions got "answered" with a question back that I didn't understand. That's the reason I asked what question I was asked. Quite simple, oder? :D

Before calling me an ass next time read a little better.
The reason I'm so upset now is that a) my questions weren't answered and b) Rene for what ever reason tried to find out in an uncool way if we can really discern a real and good sounding amp from an not so spot on simulation. Then this here came:
Midiworks wrote:
fritzman wrote:Now I'm confused about a few things here:

1. Rene, your last clip was a hardware (real tube or not real tube) amp sample? Of which amp? If so why did you fool us?
Sorry for that, but I wasnt fooling...
It was actully a question directed at you Fritz.
Ah, now after all this strange tricky gaming I know that this little question mark after the clip meant: "Hey, can you hear that it is a real amp?"
Yes, I can hear that it sounds really good. Until now only really good guitar amps do sound like that. And as everybody agrees I'm not alone with this opinion. :P

Then this (same posting):
Midiworks wrote:I still dont know if the model is good or not,
(apart from the bad cracking mp3).
But did you and others liked the real thing (5150+Mesa cab),
or was it rather the way the take was played that helped the positive overall impression... ?
I thought "shit whats wrong with my ears !"
So to sum it up again: Rene is hanging out in a nice country (at least in summer without Tsunamis and heavy rain it's a nice country). No decent music shop is remotely near to listen to some top amps he obviously doesn't own or have at hand. (Another unanswered question from the past.) His last visit in such a decent music shop is more than 5 or six years ago (sorry for this if you have been in such a music shop recently after you wrote that it is so!). He has his vintage Les Paul and his Ovation back in europe. I asked if he actually has a guitar there in Thailand where he is developing the super killer amp sim plugin and if he's using it. (What a bad question, isn't it?) :-o
The response to this question was the above posted "question" if we ( I ) were/am able to discern the criticized amp sim from the real thing. After everybody who posted about this said that this sounds GOOD the answer then was:
Midiworks wrote:I thought "shit whats wrong with my ears !"
This statement comes from the man who boldly stated in another infamous thread about another amp sim plugin that the Simulanalog JCM900 has no cab simulation, remember?

Come on, if these questions are so off then please tell me where I'm wrong.
This is not about bashing Rene, I'm really greatful for the nice Xmas present he gave me. Cool! Yes, it sounds really good compared to other amp sims.
I simply don't like it to get fooled with a "borrowed" clip someone recorded with a real amp asking if my hearing and discernment is in that condition that I dare to say that it is.

Everybody can do things the way they decide to do and I don't have a problem with the fact that Rene lets his '52 Les Paul collecting dust in europe while he's developing his plugin in far far away. But what is the worth of that statement anyway that it is so? Man, and if he had 100 '52 Les Pauls at home collecting dust. He's developing an amp sim in THAILAND not in europe where his 2 guitars are.

OK, rant over. Flame me if you like. :hihi:

Best wishes, FRitz

you are right fritz,i remember that,i also remember when midi tried to sell us his unfinished bugsy plugin (midis antares avox made with SE  )
This 5150 really confused me.
Not an easy model to make, but I will get it right.
Wait a few days please.
it's obvious you have never heard a real 5150,and now you are trying to model it from mp3 clip????

hi is just playing game with us.

Meh. 5150's overrated. ;) Even EVH didn't "love" his. A lot of people claimed it was cold-sounding, tubes and all. Sure does some great non-EVH tones, though. :D

I'd still have one in my arsenal if I could afford it, mind you.

As rule when it comes to guitar amps (not pro audio) Peavey is a swear around here. I cringe remembering my old classic, However....The 5150 is not an amp I would buy as a first choice, but I can say that the sound is surprising to me. Furthermore I am quite impressed with what Eddie himself did. He had people go to a bunch of different music stores around the country and buy 5150's, he personally made sure each was up to his expectations...I always thought that quite cool....:)

Hmmm.... I don't know... I was playing around with an new Valve King head and 4x12 and I think it sounded pretty good. If I was in the market it would be high up on my list.

Just in the interest of logic, and not countering anyone's particular arguments, I have a response to the general implication that Midiworks needs to be an amp expert to make a sim.

The two things may seem related, but they're only superficially related. Sure, being an amp expert might lend something to the efforts of programming a good amp, but they're not a requirement. Just as when Leo Fender designed the Esquire and Broadcaster (to become the Telecaster) he was no luthier and nor was he an electronics expert. From all accounts, he was pretty much a "hack" at all that kind of stuff when he first started out. I'm sure by the time he formed G&L, he had a better foundation in guitars, but that doesn't mean that his previous efforts were poor. Yet Fender instruments were known (and are still known, either through Fender or G&L) for their playability and tone.

I'm not condoning nor condemning the actions or words of ANYONE on this thread, neither Midiworks nor the people who are probing him. Even the people who contributed to the implied message that he should be more of an amp expert are well within their rights to mention that a bit more hands-on experience would help more than trial-and-error. I've no problem with anybody. But I just wanted to make it clear that logically, it doesn't follow that one is a necessary requirement for the other. It SEEMS logical, but it's not truly.

Telecaster, incidentally, is my favourite kind of electric guitar. :D

...or megalomaniac.

Rene, I'm showing early clinical signs of withdrawal  ... if you see what I mean (all the more that my last fix was cut with real-world dope).

I always thought Hartley Peavey made a big marketing slip when he chose to use his last name on all his stuff.

I mean, which do you think sounds more butch for a chest bursting, ear shredding high gain amp...

The Hartley 5150

or..

The Peavey 5150

Holy crap, you're right! Hartley is a much more butt-kicking name than Peavey. Never even thought of it that way before. ;)

When it's gotta roar, it's gotta be a Hartley.

Wait... maybe it sounds too much like "Harley" in the above example. :D
