At the lex omega site,the specs say midi in/out=usb 1.1
Have a peak at this to see what the differences are between usb 1.1 and usb 2.
I`m about to read it myself.

Seems that usb1.1 and usb2 are backwards and forwards compatable.
In any case...i`m going to get to the bottom of this for you by calling Lex support and my personal computer music tech.
I`m assuming you have your Lex system setup as shown at the Lex site setup page I posted above.

For ASIO,do you see all the Lex drivers in "device manager" as shown here;

Ok,spoke to my tech buddy and he DOES know of this problem.
He told me that Lex is having problems with their driver conforming to cubase`s latency compensation scheme.
What you need to do is call Lex support.
They will instruct you how to properly setup the SX emulated driver rewrite,and also possibly have you dload and install their new beta driver.

problem not solved- this is the reply I got from lexicon after forwarding what you just said:
There are no new beta drivers related to the MIDI portion of the driver. If you are not using the 'emulated' choice there should be no problems. The only other option is to try the default standard windows MIDI driver instead. In order to do this you would navigate to the device manager and remove the Lexicon USB MIDI device (port 1). When you re-connect the Omega's USB cable Windows should then recognize that the MIDI driver is missing and install a generic "USB Audio" device in its place. You can then check the MIDI preferences in Cubase again and try the USB Audio device as the default MIDI port (not emulated). If the situation is the same then the issue may not be related to the MIDI driver at all.
There are no changes to the MIDI driver at this time.
We have not had reports about issues relating to MIDI other than when the "ignoreportfilter" is still active and the customer is using the "emulated" port.

No solution to my problem other than dragging all the notes one step forward then quantizing- which does work. I shouldn't whinge I suppose it's no big deal.
Hurray for Steinberg. I have spent all this money just to find ways to work around more stupid bugs.

Well, not everyone has these bugs. Hang in there, it's fixable.
Is it really exactly one "step" offset? Also, how much is a step? Does this also imply you're quantizing? What happens if you record unquantized?
When I had similar problems it was never the same offset twice, otherwise I would have figured out how many samples it was and just offset my tracks after I recorded them. But I was getting a different offset every time.
Have you tried disabling the MIDI Port that comes with your motherboard's built in soundcard (I'm assuming here that you use another sound device for your music system for your MIDI interface.) You might even want to uninstall the M/B sound driver completely to isolate it as a cause. You might even try disabling on-board sound or just the MIDI port in the hardware BIOS setup, if it gives you the option.

I`m going to call my friend again and tell him what Lex told you.
My SX pc is not connected now since i`m doing some studio rewiring...so I didn`t set to memory everything my friend told me about the fix.
He did say a new folder needs to be created for SX in order to apply this workaround/fix for the Lex prob...whats in the folder I don`t remember...i`ll write it down this time.

Ok,spoke to my tech friend again.Bas wrote:In the 'Midi port enabler' directory (Under the \program files\Cubase SX3 directory by default) there is a PDF explaining the 'ignoreportfiler' function, Midi drivers and so on.
Windows can provide DirectMusic and WIndows Midi drivers. Each can also provide a system timestamp.
With early Midi notes the problem can be that the system provides SX with the incoming Midi information, but it appears early to SX, so it places the events early.
By choosing the input (DM or WIndows Midi) for a specific interface, the 'use system timestamp' flag can be checked in device setup.
Run through the suggested setup in the pdf, and see which port works on your system.
I have built many machines around SX, and the Midi interfaces have all worked with one or other of the drivers, even if one of them gave early midi notes.
He spoke also about what Bas above was refering to...but....if you can not choose the Lex midi port driver from the list that also shows the emulated driver ports,you can do this;
Go into the SX directory folder in program files and re-name the "midi port enabler" folder to something else...like "ports".
This will not allow SX to use the emulateded driver ports and allow you to select another.(ofcoarse restart SX after re-name)
"Direct Music" refers to the WDM driver your able to select from the popup window in your quickstart/taskbar...but ofcoarse you don`t want to use that...the ASIO is is your optimum choice.(thats why you dont see the Lex driver in the SX Direct Music section.
If the above doesn`t work for you and you still have the midi ofset prob,let me know and i`ll connect my music pc and look around for some other mis-setting possibilities.

Just got off the phone with Trevor(the support tech you were speaking to),and he pretty much filled me in about what you have done so far to try to solve this prob.
There is a possibility that the prob is with the motherboard`s usb chip...but trying a plug in usb board is not at the top of the adgenda.
What happened when you selected the windows generic midi port driver?
Did that change anything?
