I have seen software around that will show a frequency graph of a mix and how the bass, mid & treble look. I think it can also be cross referenced with other CD's

Are you sure spectrum analyzer will help you balance a mix as much? I'm not so expert, but an spectrum graphic it's not that easy to understand.
