maybe it's the launch of Reason Announced (or reAnnounced), a plugin that anaounces new Propellerheads software 3 years before date.
My other host is Bruce Forsyth

Well Props have specifically said they will no longer announce new products or updates until they are literally ready to begin distributing the product. Avoids over-hyping which is something the IK Multimedia guys could have learnt about AT2

For a company that rarely ever releases any updates or new products, that seems like a funny thing to be concerned with.

Im still waiting for this "3.5 update" that they mentioned when everyone complained about the lack of new features in v3...

I think Reason is on the cusp of being great, and the few months I have spent with the combinator have made it indespensible to me. However, I would like to see some new generation synths come out to extend the pallete a bit more. FM and additive for a start, and possibly a better VA, or beefed up subtractor.(I dont like stacking 6 of them just to get a thicker sound...)

After that, I think we need a bigger pallette of efx, the reason v1 efx just dont do it for me. The Reason 2.5 stuff is quite nice tho.

Who "they"? The props have never mentioned a 3.5 version...

Agreed on the 2.5 effects. Scream and RV7000 are as good as any non-Reason plugs I've used.

I haven't seen it mentioned either except as speculation from people that were disappointed with the 3.0 release.

Post

3.5 might happen, might not. Might just be wishful thinking -- the Props have never said anything one way or the other. It would be nice, but I'm not anxious about it. There's already enough stuff in there for me to have hours of creative fun.

Post

My guess would be that it is wishful thinking! Although... wouldn't it be nice to have something new.... 8)

Reason is a superb program, but I think one factor of that is that it is so unique. Nothing else out there works quite the same way. The last thing we really need right now is another "me-too" sequencer that looks and works just like Cubase/Sonar/DP/Logic/Tracktion/etc...

I find it ironic that people criticise it for not being like everything else... "it doesn't support VSTs... it doesn't record audio... it doesn't have a MIDI output... etc).

However... I do think that an audio input does have to be added at this point, perhaps with something like a retro-styled tape machine module for recording with.

Do that, and the Props will almost certainly imho have the biggest selling piece of music software on their hands once more... 8)

I find it quite ironic that criticisms seem to be okay as long as they revolve around your needs?
