My point was that we are often hearing moans that Reason doesn't do certain things. Some of those moans are legitimate featuire requests from users (of which audio recording is I think one) and other moans are basically non-users finding an excuse to criticise Reason (for example VST support, which would probably ruin the whole point of Reason, or MIDI output, which seems to misunderstand the whole ethos of Propellerhead as outlined in their mission statement on their website).

So as I say, I think that audio input/recording is - of the various moans and requests - the one which particularly makes sense to add.

That doesn't revolve around "my needs" at all, because I have plenty of audio recording software including Sonar 5, Live 5, Audition 1.5 and Tracktion 2 . But I do think that there are plenty of Reason users who would really like to see audio recording added, and plenty of potential users who would jump at Reason if this was included in the package. . And of course if they did add it I would use it so why not

my fault, I thought that the props had hinted that a 3.5 release would be released. Must've been rumors I recalled.

TBH, Im fine with reason itself, but the main impediment is the kludgyness of rewire... Updated synths/efx would be nice tho.

Who "they"? The props have never mentioned a 3.5 version...

I haven't seen it mentioned either except as speculation from people that were disappointed with the 3.0 release.

I think they really need to update the sound generators, especially if they are going to insist on being completely self contained. They cannot say they provide everything to make the most modern music if their sounds are out of date. I love the combinator, but the instruments themselves need a bit of work.

I like the idea somebody said above about an FM and an Additive synth. And maybe something really whacky like a modular synth (within a modular environment - imagine that )

I agree with John that spline based automation envelopes would be very nice.

But if I could choose just one improvement to Reason, it would be the addition of a tempo/time signature track in the sequencer.

Yes, probably an upgrade for ReCycle so it works with 64 bit processors would be my guess too.

Apart from the 64-bit thingy (which we know they are working on anyway) what else does ReCycle need? Anyone care to guess what ReCycle 3.0 would consist of in terms of improvements over 2.1?

Maybe they are just going to NAMM for the hell of it, but I can't imagine they would be going specifically to announce that ReCycle now works with 64-bit processors

I noticed that they are exhibiting in the arena, which is typically where all the DJ equipment is exhibited. Previously they always exhibited in Hall A which is where most of the software exhibitors are. I'm guessing this is because of a reduced budget and so probably no major anouncements. Although a small update to Reason does sound plausible. It's highly unlikely, but a DJ like app from the Props would me quite ineresting.

Recycle as a VSTi would be a nice update - I don't see what would stop that possibility.

I have used it for some years now - it would be great to use it inside a host with drag'n'drop midi template for chopped beats - straight onto a track - saving a lot of time.

FL Studio didn't have spline automation until V5, and nobody complained before. Orion doesn't have it at all, and nobody's complaining. Pretty much all of the others I know of have it as well as normal MIDI automation, which I find better anyway. Press record, tweak knobs on oxygen8, press record again, and done. Much better, much more convenient, much faster.
