an album that was so far ahead of its time it still is in my opinion,its time is yet to come(again)
not saying its the best album ever or even cans best album,it just has something about it that stirs up my love of all things noisy again.
if you dont own it i recommend you buy it,if you do own it dig it out,sit back and let it wash away the jaded monkey...

for me the most exciting thing lately was the modeselektor that came out on bpitch.

It was a great listen (love the Prefuse 73 style spliced french rap song).

However, it was also only an excellent synergy of prexisting ideas. Nothing sounded new, so much as "perfected".

i like music as fast as engines - makes it difficult to use effects, but hey... i'm pretty jaded too. sick of lyrics, melodies, etc...

not that im trying to put you off,but when i said noisy i just meant sound in general,they are not like merzbow in any way
but highly experimental kraut rock nonetheless
which in my opinion plays a big precursory roll in most of todays non commercial music.

If you like the Ohm comp, I'd strongly recommend checking out some more academic electroacoustic stuff, particularly Bernard Parmegiani and the stuff at electrocd.com. Some of it can be a little overly conceptual but in terms of timbres and compositional structures there's a lot there that pop/underground hasn't really explored yet.

I particularly like Francis Dhomont, Yves Beaupre, Louis Dufort, and Natasha Barrett. Curtis Roads' last album is worth a listen too.

Type records put out some nice stuff this year too. I like the Deaf Center and Julien Neto albums quite a bit.

I reccommend everyone going and checking out pandora.com. Type in the band you like and you get streaming audio of bands that are hand picked to be similar to the one you typed in. They have all kinds of obscure stuff on there. I typed in Fennesz and they had that.

Also, Colleen's "The Golden Morning Breaks" from 2005 is beautiful.

Going back a bit, Anthony Manning's stuff still kills me, especially Chromium Nebulae.

as a self-proclaimed "Can Fan", i'm embarrassed to say i've never heard Tago Mago (although some tracks appear on the comps), my favorite is "Ege Bam Yasi", it rolls over my brain like a cool breeze on a lovely summer day....'tis the shit...

ok. i agree with you JackDArk about the sounds on hello mom not being new but being refined and perfected...but isn't that true with everything? new ideas and sounds are only the offspring of already existing sounds and ideas.

Sure sure, but I didn't hear any "new sounds" on Hello Mom! at all. I heard sounds I'd already heard before, yet arranged a bit more meticulously and accessibly then I'd yet heard them.
