I followed an advice I found on EQ magazine. I asked a friend who's crazy about tube equipment to make me a home made tube preamp.

Once I finished a song I route each track out to the tube preamp (one by one) and record them back to my sequencer to make the final mix.

The results are wonderful  Just be sure you have good A/D converters.

Give it a try you won't regret it. Since I started to do this I forgot using Vintage Warmer. :D

Also, what do you think of the Simulanalog Tube Screamer? People seem to be raving about their plugs...

(I anticipate the usual "try it yourself and see if you like" it responses, but I ask GuitarJeff because he's obviously tried a lot of these products).
I've never tried plugging in a distortion box ahead of a software amp Sim. It might be weird getting a correct level. Maybe not. I've used my Tube Screamer in front of my POD and it sounds OK. Not as good as through the Tube screamer and a Marshall though.

The simulanalog TS in combination with their JCM 900 is about as good as it gets for amp sims at the present time I think. Still a ways to go IMO to challenge real amplifiers, or even the POD stuff for that matter.

I use the X- Amp box. Works like a charm!!
Hmm - looks interesting. Any recommendations as to an online dealer for these?

How about this. I paid about $20 less at G.C.
