Vervil-- that sounded great! A really good demo of what the Xmas Tube is capable of.

I know. Unfortunately.

Those who can do maths and those who can't.

Great. Yes, the drum programming could be more "lively", but the guitar sound is just suiting fine IMO. Mind you, I'm not a metal expert by any means though.
Well, it is intentionally, kick and snare are more or less untouched samples made by Andy Sneap, and they are made to work in a very bussy mix with big guitars, so no matter how loud you put them in a mix, they won't change their character, small, short snappy... :) If you think "more lively" in a sense of programming details, then you're right, this is done quick. Thanks for checking!

EDIT: Ok, not so nice. :P
:P
Drums are not bad, they just don't fit the guitar.
It's too "Studio HiFi" with very little room.(sounds thin compare to the guitar)
Well it is idea in a lot of modern metal... In mix, if something has to be big it is big compared to something else, big guitars are big because something else is small, drums for instance. :) I would not use those samples for something else but they work ok for this clip I think.
fritzman wrote:Hey Dushan,

sounds cool. What kinda (old) strings did you use for that? The border to tune downwards for me is C#. C is too wobbly for me, to easily out of tune. And this is with 11-72 strings on a long scale strat. You seem to have only few probs with the loose strings tuningwise ...

All the best, FRitz
Ernie Ball "Beefy Slinky" 11-54. I could use thicker string instead of 54, others are all right, because I don't tune everything 4th lower, but it is more of a "dropped B" tuning... All other strings are tuned to a C# tuning, minor third lower, and only E string is detuned to B instead of C#. I tune it slightly bellow B so it is in tune when hitting strings. If you tune perfectly to B, it will probably sound a bit to high when playing.

Midiworks: Of course life "breathes", but there's a limit! Otherwise, my life-filled (ie. EMI-filled) concrete apartment would be an ideal recording environment. I can tell you, it's full of life and unavoidable "sound errors". ;)

Thats not a real challenge...
This one from Killvehicle is:
http://www.soundspectral.com/Demos/challenge.mp3
I heard a lot of people say this isnt a desirable sound, and that may be, but I sent this to MW to show him what the 5150 combo sounds like!! WHich is what that is, NO extra pedals at all and the gain is only on 7. I think the saturation and air as Midi said, IS what I find appealing, Yes I usually try to tame the super rich harmonics this amp produces, but since this amp sim is about the 5150 I decided to show him the combo version which I feel is really more of a tone monster than the head. Even with the Metallic sound it can produce, but that is 100% all amp, which to this day, still hasnt been matched in that degree. Good or Bad..

Good of you to supply it for him. Definitely worth hearing an example if you're trying to emulate a certain kind of beast.

The amp itself is probably great, but it brings me back to an earlier point in either this or the Amplitube2 thread-- you can have the best amp in the world, and in the wrong conditions or with the wrong equipment, it'll still be tough to get a good sound out of it.

When I hear this kind of hiss, I usually go, "Frig, is my cable buggered?" or "Damned EMI in my stupid lousy apartment" (imagine my apartment plus a 5150 amp?!

I had a listen to the song at your soundclick site, though, and the amp sounded Frickin GREAT in the context of a song. ;) So what the hell do I know? :D

ONe last thing before I get out of here today,, Yes there is a hiss, but that can easily be tamed by cutting the highs, I did absolutely zero processing so he can hear it like if he were there, And I used a ROde NTK, which by the way rules, but that also could add a little more sizzle on the highs since it is a tube and a condenser but as you said, with a little eq and some "production" added it is rather simple, for me, to attain a sound I like with literaly no extra effects, pedals, etc. Guitar-Amp-Mic. And it fits well into what I term as music!! :D Although I have been told on more than one occasion it is not. :o

Ok guys, I've updated what I'm working on, it's a cover of a manga soundtrack (Naruto, the song is "Need to be Strong"). It's a bit longer than the previous preview, with a less trebly mix. Tuning is drop C# (according to Greg's dogma ;), besides it's SOAD's current tuning).
Here it is.

Please comment. (tone, mix)

Edit : Ah, ah forgot to explain the hole in the middle  ... it's just that the bass is playing solo there, and well, there's no bass at the moment.

So we forget the clean-crunchy thing? (Or I should start PMing all the oldskool KVR guitarheads to join forces  )

Again as prommised,
here is the FRITz take.

I must add, that this one was quite hard to get.
Due to (I guess) maximizer/EQ/and...

I prefer pure amp takes. 8)

Congratulations!

That is quite good. Yes it wasn't easy, because I used a few additional plugins to get that sound. But you did a good job emulating the Xmas amp! :D
