Its cool that we get another synth for free, but I've just about lost all interest in Orion. I'm really only using Sonar at this point, and I'll be very surprised if I decide to go for the next paid Orion update...
No disrespect to Rich for all his hard work, but it no longer meets my needs.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Ah, right so arkes just musunderstood & one can choose whether or not too move with the automation with the relevant patterns.
Cool that makes sense.
Does that include moving multiple automation 'lines' with the relevant pattern?
Also does that also include any automation that one may be using that references send channels etc?
One of the things that bothered me about tracktion was that the automation (unless one used midi automation) was linear & made rearranging rather tedious (just my opinion).
One of the reasons I personally chose Ableton live, as I like the clips (kind of like patterns I guess), even then though capturing send automation within patterns (apart from the actual send level/amount) doesn't seem possible, but I may be missing something.
I must admit that Orion seems to be developing nicely.

Shit, thats almost perfect!BONES wrote:That must be something they nicked from ORION. All you have to do is check the box in the Playlist's CFG dialog to move instrument and/or mixer automation with patterns.arke wrote:Yes, but Orion's automation is still linear. I like automating alot and I also like rearranging songs alot. This is easy in FL where I put automation in a separate empty pattern which I can move around with the rest, but with Orion I'd have to manually fire up the event editor and move around each time for each automated parameter...
Of course, Reason's way would be good too where the automation is grouped with the notes but you can choose to move each around separately on the sequencer.
diverdee, ORION has automation at both pattern and song level, although it's slicker in patterns.
Dunno if Reason stole it from Orion or Orion stole it from Reason or maybe neither, Reason has had this since its first version but I'm not sure which one came out first?
Doesn't matter, its perfect except that I can't see that there is automation present when looking at the playlist, thats the only part thats bugging me (and its nicer that in Reason you can move it around in the same screen but then again FL5 had a separate Event editor and I didn't care until I got spoiled by the new one in the Piano Roll

I'll agree with Gary here; have you read all of quietmusician's posts? The only time he posts is to stir up shit...once wrote:Hey bluedaddy, cool it man ! Orion is becoming as bad as FL studio with all these updates. None of these updates are even essential to music making, just more eye-candy and unnecessary things that you don't need.![]()
Ridiculous !!!!!!
I could'nt care less about this update.

OTOH, there are no bug-fixes in this ORION release AFAIK.once wrote:That's why FL is looking more like a telephone exchange these days than a sequencer.![]()
You can spend the rest of your life downloading updates with very little music to show for it.
Yes to both. Pattern automation always remains with the pattern but any song-level automation laid over an area of the Playlist will be moved when you move the patterns in that area, including mixer event,s depending on the options you choose.diverdee wrote:Does that include moving multiple automation 'lines' with the relevant pattern?

When Reason was released ORION was at about version 1.9 or so but it probably didn't quite have that feature by then [or maybe it did, it was so long ago].arke wrote:Dunno if Reason stole it from Orion or Orion stole it from Reason or maybe neither, Reason has had this since its first version but I'm not sure which one came out first?

Though looking at it I almost think Synapse bought it because the interface was almost perfectly in tune with OP design standards already.
btw whats the difference between this and ej? They are both 6 op fm synths?

That sound scool, I've been looking for someone to mute, just to see how it works.diverdee wrote:Yep, not to derail the thread - but the guy is a major trolling pussyhole.

for as long as I can remember, and I bought Orion when it was only $29.00 the automation could be put in with the patter.

Sweet, I take it one just ticks a box/option & it then performs the operation.BONES wrote:Yes to both. Nice.
Y'know if I hadn't invested already (time & money) in Live & Reason etc. i'd give Orion a look.
I might anyway when I have some free time, just for the hell of it

Can't nobody beat Orion. You have Toxic, Ultran, Wasp, The sampler, the drum sampler, Impule reverb, tons of effects, PDC, Audio, etc. I do Hip-Hop, Jazz & R&B and this is all I'm ever gonna use as far as computer music studios (and Adobe Audition). I'll support an individual way quicker than a large company and Rich is the man. Keep making it better and I'll keep getting it.
