No but I checked it during weekend and it's got a good clean sound but nothing more than what's achievable with a good ampsim or a POD. However its got a nice oldskool feel.
I also checked BURNYs clips and the "drive" was my favourite.

Here's what I made using this clip (not 100% satisfied - I tried a different approach from what I usually do, but jcm900 based again)

That is quite good. Yes it wasn't easy, because I used a few additional plugins to get that sound. But you did a good job emulating the Xmas amp! :D

All the best and have a nice day, FRitz

You really got me !!!

I thought it sounded closed to a Bogner xtc,
very tube like.
Only the wombling lows confused me.

Well done ! :hihi:

P.S This just showed me again, how real my amp sounds.
If it can even fool me ! :D :hihi:

Is not only about the 5150, but amp sims in general.
The 5150 was just anoher amp model to show what the sim is capable of. ;)
Even with the Metallic sound it can produce, but that is 100% all amp, which to this day, still hasnt been matched in that degree. Good or Bad..
Thats a challenge, I will try my best. Thank you ! :)

Yeah, me too. I found this thread too late. Maybe it could be re-offered as a valentine's amp? ;-)

'cause you love us! :P

Hey Rene,

now that one was fun, right? :hihi:

But you said that your new engine could do the stuff of the old engine, too. So I thought that would be a nice "challenge" ... :hihi:  8)

cheul wrote:Ok guys, I've updated what I'm working on, it's a cover of a manga soundtrack (Naruto, the song is "Need to be Strong"). It's a bit longer than the previous preview, with a less trebly mix. Tuning is drop C# (according to Greg's dogma ;), besides it's SOAD's current tuning).
Here it is.

Please comment. (tone, mix)

Edit : Ah, ah forgot to explain the hole in the middle  ... it's just that the bass is playing solo there, and well, there's no bass at the moment.

Hey cheul,

sounds cool. A usable guitar sound. Your Peavey?

Best wishes, FRitz

P.S. There's a strange silence in the middle ...  8)

Hey zeoy,

your track sounds ok, but not really good. For these things I prefer amp sounds that blend smoothly from crunch to clean. The JCM900 "breaks off" the distortion when the notes are fading out.

Best wishes, FRitz

P.S. My track was made with the Simulanalog Twin. But for these sounds GR2 is better me thinks.

That fading out thing its a PITA. Totally agree here. Maybe you're right about GR2. Weren't they making those "combos". I remember when I checked these demos they had some good crunchy sounds.

Now that's the real chalenge Rene (at least IMHO). Make a real good clean or clean to crunch model and finish them all! You already have done a great job with hi gain sounds.
However if you don't want to spend your time on something you don't like and/or it's maybe not so popular that's totally understandable.

Just my 2 cents

Wich Ampsim ?

It's no hardware (pod or v-amp...), only software !

10 seconds of knobs tuning..

Ok, this is the last one of clips I have recorded on the same day, and as previous one, it is also two guitar tracks hard panned, two instances of xmass amp but with different cab, one with mic more on axis, guitar is valley arts, used some EQ and impulse of some room just for some more 80's feel. :) It is more traditional hard rock guitar sound.

Have in mind it is not made to be much musical, it is just a clip that has all Van Halen tradmark techniques in it, so you can hear how amp model reacts to all of them. Have in mind that amp model used in xmass amp does not have THAT much distortion, so some pinched harmonics are not coming out really good.

Rene already has all clips dry, so if he has time and someone would like to hear it, he could maybe make mp3 of the same clip but played thru his new 5150 amp model.
