Anybody notice this is a straight rip of Kraftwerks Computer Love? Even the lead is a Kraftwerk sound :D

Post

i Heard a song onthe radio, didn't know who the band was , but i noticed a clear "reproduction" of the main theme from "computer love"

I'm a big fan of kraftwerk and the first time I heared that guitar in the coldplay song well... you can understand...

So young ppl today thinks that the coldplay song is great and probably they'll never know that the beautiful simple melody is not so original... But the problem is not young ppl... they simply doesn't know krafterk, It's normal...

But I must admit that it's a great song... and this probably because "Computer Love" IS a great song.

Is there any note in the cd about kraftwerk? something like: "We thanks Kraftwerk to let us use blah blah..." ? Or Coldplay think taht we are stupid sheep masses (like Ozbourne daughter playing a bad copy of Visage 'fade to grey' ?)

Post

cant say i recognise it, but i havent heard the K tune for years, and i hate coldplay anyway...

Post

I heard an interview with Coldplay and they were quite open about it being ripped from Kraftwerk so presume they payed to use it.

If not there is a hefty bill coming their way :hihi:

Post

if they didnt sample it, which i dont think they did, they prob wont have to pay much for such a small riff, its not like you can copyright a riff, especially as its used in a new context....im just guewssing tho, and care not

So, Kriminal, I can play well known music simply changing the instruments and lyrics... well I'll be very famous in few months...

Listen computer love... and listen that coldplay song... compare them... It's not only a small riff... It's everything.

I hate this things...

not quite what i meant, but im sure lots of bands play riff that are used in other songs, there is afte all, only so many notes and combinations to use, and it is possible to write a riff that is the same as another track, even if you have never heard it before....

sorry, i cant stand the band, i def wont be listening to it by choice, i'll take your word for it.

I rarely heard a story about a band being more "fair" after using ideas they love. The band asking nicely, Kraftwerk saying "well take it, nice".

Kraftwerk IS known to all young listeners, I would say, mao... At least like other so-called "gods" (Andy Warhol, velvet underground, Madonna, Björk and others in the last years). In Germany Kraftwerk's tour-de-france - album was rather dissed by older DJs on some poshy radio ("Altherrenmucke", old guys' shit) than by younger musicians. I think the "scenes" loved it...

I heard a radio interview with Coldplay awhile back (around the release time of X&Y) and they said they had asked for permission, in fact Kraftwerk asked for a personally written letter to do so!

That's probably because they haven't got a telephone.
