Yes, there is a lot of "controled" random going on.chrishurley wrote:
As a sidebar, I wonder to what degree the software developers that make amp sims are utilizing random numbers in their simulations. People always talk about tubes doing random things (within a range of behavior), and I wonder if the simulation/modelling developers have thought to utilize this concept.
Rene?
This is part of the reason why XmasTube feels and sounds so real.
btw. I need a few things more than just a sound file.
That is the problem with the Dumble and ENGL, I need 1 person who owns one, and does a few things for me.
Good to have 2 friends who own music shops, but no luck this time.

I would be surprised if anyone else is utilizing random number generation in their sims. One of the problems with having digital solutions to analog problems is the desire to have the same result every time- and thats not what analog devices do.

Rene as long as one of your amp sims sounds like this :

(engl powerball)
That will make my day

I think this whole "modeling" stuff doesn't matter as it's only a marketing tool to get us to call for some amps we want right now. In the end this plugin will be a plugin with it's strenghts and it's shortcomings. It will have certain characteristics of the amps we would like to get as a plugin and some not.championrabbit wrote: This Midi-fella doesn't even play the guitar, let alone have access to these amps, and thus his 'modelling' is nothing of the sort. He's emulating the few sounds that are being sent to him, assuming that they are absolutely indicative of the sound of an amp and engineering the sims under the misapprehension that all amps interact and behave the same way in terms of the above.
In short, if he's claiming to be 'simulating' or 'modelling' then I call bullshit.
The POD doesn't even have a master volume! So what? It does a certain job and now a few years later Renes plugin will (if it ever gets finished, we don't know. All good intentions aside) do it's job too and from what I already heard and OWN (Xmas amp) I can say: Yes, this is a cool step ahead from my POD.
The whole modeling stuff is a joke anyway. What is modeling? Is there a "right" or "wrong" way to do modeling? No! Who is defining "modeling"? Call it simulation, emulation, modelling, etc. and it doesn't change a thing!
Do you know how hard it is to "model" a certain amp with "real" amp ingredients? Like making a copy of a certain amp with tubes, resistors, capacitors, etc.? Man, that is modeling, too.
In the end I don't care if all this will get a nice name like "super vacuum air tube sound technology"(TM)! or if it just says "CrunchAmp1", "MetalAmp2", etc.
Everybody has their ideas about that. Or not. You seem to have some, too. So what? Let's see the result of it all. If it has a result and a good one as we all hope, fine.championrabbit wrote: How is anybody even going to know how good this guy's Dumble (for example) simulation is going to be? Anybody play a Dumble amp? Anybody even know why they want a Dumble simulation?
Yes, we can all know it better and have ideas how it should be done ( I have and had some ideas about that, too. Remember? ) but IF the result would be as great as Rene wishes it will be (and most of us do hope so, too) we would be able to buy a really usable good sounding plugin. Lot of people would love it. Same as with analog synth emulations. They are all SOOOO modeled. And some even DO sound good.
All the best, FRitz
In the end will be the word.

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

What's so hard to believe about that? You don't believe that people have real amps? I have a bunch of nice guitars too, and effects pedals, and recording gear.Hink wrote:

@audiojunkie
Price will be between 200-250 Euros.
Copy protection will be a simple serial number.

Stunning! Best CRUNCH on the planet...a bit pricey $1500.00 for the head, but well worth it and sparkle galore when needed and rollback off the gain! A Groove Tube Solo 150 emulating American COKE bottle 6L6's would also be quite an achievement!ROUND WARM TOP END AND LOW END! Sounds great with Telecaster and Les Paul!
Duplicate the tonemaster and count me in.

Hello CR,championrabbit wrote: Anybody even know why they want a Dumble simulation?
this is why http://www.larrycarlton.net/brandnew/equipment.shtml
you may or may not like his Music, but there's something to be said for his tone, isn't it?
I also own a Kitty Hawk custom, which comes close in sound, I think - I just won't ask to model one, because barely anybody knows these. It weighs eighty pounds, and needs to be run at louder than bedroom volume to get really good. So I would love to have a plugin that does this touch sensitive, singig lead without having to upset my neighbours.
I gues you could say I just should get the Vox valvetronix? I just don't need yet another piece of expensive hardware. And I love the fact that re-amping is rather easy with plugins.
I share youre concerns about modeling - but only to a degree. I don't need an amp model that reacts EXACTLY like the amp - I just want one that gives me the "signature sound", whatever that is...
Cheers

the Tonemaster is gorgeous for those Fender clean and crunch sounds. I vote for that one too if it has to be counted in the drive department.
Rene, I still had one or two amps left to choose since you already HAD included some of the amps I asked for.
All the best, FRitz
P.S. I have to count again ...
