String recommendations?

Hi all,

Im due to receive my Receptor in a week and I have everything worked out what I want on it apart from strings.

Can anyone recommend a good String sample set for it? I'll be using it purely for disco/funk stuff. I have the Smart Violins but it seems a shame to not make use of the massive memory and hard drive.

Please any recommendations!

EastWest Symphonic Orchestra.
I use the Gold collection, but it sounds like you coud get by with thier Silver package.

Would the Garritan Personnal Orchestra be any good for my purposes? Although its a bit more than what i want, which is strings.

I don't want to say anything too negative; I also have the GPO.

I happened to encounter some technical difficulties which I found frustrating for my purposes (mostly live performances)

Hmmm, not good. as I intend to use the Receptor only for live use! There's going to be some sweating gong on playing live until Im sure I have a stable setup!

I know EXACTLY what you mean by 'sweating'.
But things are quite stable these days. I LOVE my Receptor.
GPO was not saving my volume changes, and it's main volume control defaulted to the Mod-Wheel.
I believe that, with Receptor's Ver. 1.4, you can now customize where external MIDI control goes.
I am in a professional performing situation where I could not wait for such developments (and I did develop a stable 'work-around')
So I purchased the EW Gold library ~ and after some experimenting with it's reverb settings, have fallin in love with it!

At this point, after the 1.4 release, GPO may very well take care of your needs.
