Congradulations! Your in for more fun than you can possibly imagine, playing music with the Echoplex Pro Plus. Ths is the spiritual successor to the original Echoplex, a device made by Maestro in the 1960's that relied on tape loops to create effects. It was used extensively by Jimi Hendrix, the Doors, and many others. Now, the temperamental tape technology that terminated the triumph of the original Echoplex has been replaced by high-fidelity, utterly consistent digital technology. Not only does this result in increased sound quality bt the flexibility afforded by programmable digital control also makes possible a much wider range of performance options.---------------------------------------------

Mobious is a emulation of the hardware version. I downloaded a previous version before, but It seem to be vary time consuming to get on top of it. It runs as a VST and as a standalone.

O/k I downloaded Mobius. Im curious and there is a bit of history behind it and....... 8)

It asked me to put the Mobius dll in my VST folder and..............................................
it didn't register in MUZY, Cubase VST4 and crashed Tracktion. It comes up as standalone but doesn't seem to do much, so far :?:

At the moment Im sought of unsure what it acualy does :?: Its manual is rather long and not that clear, and exactly the same as whith the Echoplex Pro Plus manual too. What I can make out is that it appears to record layers or sound-on-sound loops. :?

Anybody had any experience whith Mobius.

Mobius is a tool for live recording and manipulation of audio loops, with features similar to those of the Gibson Echoplex Digital Pro and the Electrix Repeater. This is a live performance looper, not to be confused with static loop triggering and assembly tools like Acid. It is similar to having 8 synchronized stereo EDPs with the ability to copy loops and timing between them. Extensive MIDI and keyboard control is provided.

Well, Iv discovered it works in the VST effect slot in cubase VST4. Not getting any sound out of it so far. Its rather :? at the moment.

Think of it as an audio recorder to start. Setup an instrument or audio source. Insert Mobius as an effect. Start playing the instrument/audio. There should be no sound.

When you open Mobius, you should see some audio meters in the centre that are responding to the audio in. The output levels at the bottom indicate each loop buffer. When selected, all the controls elsewhere (record, reverse, etc) now respond for the selected loop buffer.

Select the first loop buffer. Click on record (third button from the top), let it get some of the incoming audio. Hit record again to stop. Audio should now be playing in a loop.

Transpose your incoming audio down one octave. Start playing.

Go to Mobius and select the second loop buffer. Hit record. Wait. Hit record again. You should now have two loops running together.

That's it. Mobius has lots of other features for you to explore, but that's the basic premise.

Cheers,
Steve
