Cool new plugins added today for boxed owners.

Does anyone else here have the boxed version? If you do, did you see that there are six new plugins available.

* MRVB-1 Studio Reverb: Simulate the effect of playing in a small garage with a concrete floor, or pretend you’re the headliner at a concert hall with the great-sounding MRVB-1 stereo reverberation plug-in.

I'm downloading now, although it's slow because everyone is downloading the update. I'm hoping the reverb is good on the CPU, even though I just got a brand new computer so it shouldn't matter as much.

Anyways, has anyone tried these yet? I think this makes the already great plugin collection a whole lot better.

Sorry if you don't have the boxed version, I'm not trying to rub it in. Just wanted to see if anyone has them downloaded yet.

It's only at revision 0.1.something though, so I'm hoping optimization is something not really begun in earnest at this stage.

Overall I'm really diggin the new plug-ins. Although its hard to move away from the plug's I've been using already you know. But its definitely a killer package. The reverb is more CPU hungry than Wavearts on my PC. I wouldnt exactly call it a hogg, but its definitely more CPU hungry. It eats probably between 5 and 10 percent CPU. The compressors have a really sweet sound, I like them. EQ's are useful as usual. Like I sayd, a very solid effects package.

AMD 64 3500+ here... Without anything else loaded in an edit, the "idling" reverb makes the CPU meter go to about 25%, which is too much for my taste - and it seems to stay there pretty much regardless of algorithm or other settings. 10-20% (program dependent) I would consider "decent", 5-15% "very good". But as I pointed out, it's evidently considered a pretty early version by its creators. I wouldn't be surprised to see great improvements over time.

Overall, this reverb seems *very* flexible and quite promising. Haven't tested it enough to actually decide how I like the sound in "real life" yet!

Whilst the reverb is a bit beefy cpu-wise, it sounds fantastic, and definitely worth freezing stuff for. Fantastic presets!

I haven't had time to play with anything else yet. I am still super geeked about the mp3/ogg export.

That's not really a meaningful comparison though. Reverb is brutally processor intensive, and most reverb algorithms work by trying to leave as much stuff out as possible without sounding too artificial (especially on short tails). A reverb could use 100% of your CPU and still be a masterpiece of optimized code. The only comparison that can be made is with other reverb algorithms with a comparable quality.

It'd be a bit like arguing that the only benchmark for a good lossy reduction codec is the resultant file size. By that metric RealAudio at 16Kb looks *really* good. In the same manner, a single tap delay is about as CPU light a reverb as you are ever likely to find.

For my money the new reverb sounds OK. I can't see myself using it on entire mixes, I'm just not that into its sound, but it seems OK, and its CPU is about comparable with other reverbs with a similiar subjective quality.

Of course, I don't try to imply anything else but comparing what other VST reverbs are doing on my specific system, and what my method of working is prepared to "take" as far as CPU hits are concerned.

I consider ArtsAcoustic the currently best regarding efficiency vs. sound quality (obviously, leaving the price out of the discussion), and as I said, that uses about half as much CPU here. OTOH, that is 180 Euros, or as much as the entire T2 package...!

I've had a chance to try it now. I also have an Athlon 64 3500+ with a gig of RAM and it does get a bit high. It's good for me for certain items. Overall the plug-ins do impress me, as it adds great value.
