Headquest: your definition of clear and my definition of gray area seem to be different.

Wasn't the Reverb, for example, only ever mentioned in "retail" advertisements such as the main T2 information page at Mackie? The same page also talks about Amplitube LE and RMIV, which is an indicator that the page is targeted at retail box customers. This is the same page, if I'm not mistaken, that you already know doesn't apply to download-upgrade customers.

When the $20 was offered, wasn't it also offered as "full credit" toward a future retail purchase? So that your $20 isn't actually wasted? Regardless, you also have an entire core program, and an extensive update to an entire core program for the cost of your twenty bones. Even if I can't convince you that it's not mean or vindictive (the opposite, IMO), surely you must at least realize that it's grossly overstating the case to say that your huge investment of twenty dollars is just for a "taster". You have a full core program, and at least this upgrade.

At some point in time, there WILL be a paid upgrade. Whether that's 2.5 or 3.0, it's going to happen. And Mackie has always made it clear that there's no upgrade path from downloaded 2.x to retail 3.x. So I'm still not sure where you think you've been put out or that Mackie has pulled an evil stunt.

I can't seem able to load the T2 information page (stupid servers... it IS the crap servers after all!) to confirm that it's on that page the Reverb is mentioned, so I'm still willing to admit for now that it might be a grey area. Certainly not "clear" that all future Mackie plug-ins are free for download-only customers.

I like the new widget on the Aux Sends! At first I thought it was just the 10 or so pixels on the filter, but it gives you a nice little send meter pop-up.

Is PDC still non-functional for out-of-the-box Aux Sends?

wow, I just realised the PDC works if you put the Aux Return track before the tracks with Aux Send. You learn something new every day...

The new widget on Aux's is fuckin great. Combine that with the new solo isolate feature and you're in aux/send heaven. Not to mention you can add a quick access slider to any filter!

It's not just aux sends, you can add one to any filter. Right click and add a quick control parameter.

The Reverb and EQ are for both the Mac and PC. If you purchased a boxed version of T2 I believe you should (regardless of platform) receive this new Bundle of plugins.

I opted for the online upgrade from T1 to T2.
No need for a box and a drum machine here.

Nevermind..i'd still like to check out the plugs though even in demo form.

@ Lunch Money: If you go back and read what I actually said you will notice:

1) That I said the $20 upgrade was a "great deal" (I have consistently said that on this and other forums).

2) That I said I would like to have an oportunity to PAY for the extra Mackie plugs so that I can at least have the complete set (but without having to buy another copy of Tracktion).

Just for the record too, I don't know of any shops in the UK that will give me a $20 rebate on Tracktion. I asked in a couple and they actually laughed at me

I don't think it is even slightly unreasonable of me to want to buy more stuff from Mackie, but I do think is crazy for them to make it so difficult for download customers to move over to their prefered business model in a fair and gradual way. That is what I personally think *seems* somewhat "vindictive" towards the original pre-Mackie customer base, who after all are the very people who helped Tracktion become viable in the first place.

At the end of the day though, by denying me the opportunity to buy their effects, they are ultimately shooting themselves in the foot.

You do have the opportunity.

By upgrading to a full box.

Not sure how the $20 would work... and yeah, internationally things are trickier for some godawful reason.

Anyhow, I'm mainly being contrary by saying you DO have the opportunity. In a more realistic response: The way you just stated your case repeats a few of your words, but in a different way. It was mainly the implication that Mackie had "slighted" or "misled" you that I was responding to.

As for standalone bundles of effects... not the worst idea I've ever heard. They might have their reasons, but I couldn't even make a guess.

I agree headquest.

The whole ethos behind tracktion is simplicity.
Pointing my browser to myMackie account and downloading the FULL update seems like the simplest solution to me.

I'm a professional musician I dont have the time or the inclination to hunt around music shops for a box and CD while dealing with shop jockeys who are all total retards in my experience.
I dont mind paying for the plugs but I'm not buying another copy of Tracktion..it's stoopid.

Maybe they feel that the effects are better used as a way to attract new Tracktion users rather than to try to sell individual versions in an already crowded FX market.
After all, new Tracktion users are getting the boxed version so they would get all the effects.

I'm sure that you're completely right AD80. It would just be nice for them to take account of us lingerers from the olden days and give us a chance to stay on board

And when it comes to Tracktion 3, if Greg is right and previous Tracktion 1 / T2 download customers will have no upgrade path at all, I think that's a damn shame. But I will demo it and have to decide on its own merits when the time comes, obviously. In the meantime, I'll have a better idea of where Tracktion is headed if I can at least demo the new effects.

Does anyone know whether they are available in the actual T2.1 demo?
