I guess there must be something in the audioengine making this one hard to fix, because the way it works now I see it as a major bug...

+1 on the following:

OMF Import/export (yes!), clip based automation, better custom control surface support w/feedback, lockable track sizes (groups would be nice too, but locking at a minimum).

Here's what I'd really love to see in addition to the above:

1. Multi-screen/multi-window support -- edit on one, projects on one, properties on one. (I've got three screens, and even being able to use just two would be *very* handy.)

2. Ability to lock multiple built-in plugs, each in their own window -- plugs without their own GUI that is. Right now we're limited to one at a time, in the properties pane.

3. Vertical split-screen for edit pane -- I shouldn't have to change track order if I want to see one track (a rhythm guitar for example) next to another (say snare drum) temporarily. Very handy for many-track projects.

I find it very hard to choose from just three of the above. I like all of your suggestions. Except Tracktion Mixer, go buy yourself a hardware dude:o o_O But stop, I will NOT have another debate on the subject. Instead I take faith in Mackie to make the best of it:)

'pHz' - you always post a picture of a midi screen that has 70% coverage (the standard and largest screen size in T2 for this view) ... I do very intricate and extended midi editing and nothing short of the ENTIRE ecreen works very well for me.

I can see that for some the current implementation is fine but enough people ask for the same FR as to (IMO) make it a desirable feature.

I have said all along that T2 is a very nice app ... but the Midi editing screen and it's overall feel and somewhat 'flaky' navigation kill the app ... for me.

The day this stuff gets refined is the day a LOT of people will show a renewed interest in the program ... and for some, it will become a usable program - I can not use T2 in it's current state as the midi side of things is too fiddly.

Also, the fact that entering notes at the edges of clips usually ends up 'grabbing' the edges of the clip. This simply shouldn't happen when you're editing.

I apologise for any distress this comment may cause, but :

What about an option in the preferences that simply gives you a FULL screen (get ready) detachable Midi edit screen (on clicking over a midi clip)- user definable (as in stretch and move it where ever) and no one is distressed, everyone is happy, my/your dual monitors can be used - give it a key command to open/close and have the host remember it's last sizing and position.

That would not be against the grain for the purist, as it would not have to be used (or seen) by them - those of us who want the elusive BIG midi editing area would be catered for and everyone kept happy.

Actually properly fixing the dropped first note bug would be good. It's only been a known issue for what 3 years or something? I just had it happen again on the new version.

Another feature that I think is vital (and has also been asked for since the start of time itself!) is decent quality timestretching and pitchshifting. If, as Mackie and you guys constantly like to say, Tracktion really is supposed to be an alternative to the likes of Cubase, Sonar, Logic et al surely this should be standard. All the major hosts have featured these most basic of functions for years.

Come on Mackie, if you really believe Tracktion can take on the "big boys" stick your hands in your pockets and pay for a decent stretching algo. Like many others here, I'd hoped it would be a V2 feature. If it's not a 2.x or 3.0 feature at the very latest, then I guess it's time for me to find a new host.

I don't PERSONALLY need MIDI editing bigger than it is. 80% of the screen, stretched across 2 monitors... that's plenty for me! But it's a feature I'd like to see implemented for the sake of my more MIDI-capable peers.

Before that, though, I'm with boogie-- decent timestretch. Ultimately, I've lived without for this long (I choose tempo ahead of time and work within that limitation), but there have indeed been times it'd be handy. Even moreso than timestretch, though, I'd like to see in-edit 'seamless' ACID-like beatslicing.

Track folders. Still one of my biggest.

As for the dropped note-- it simply will not be fixed until an engine overhaul. It's been addressed many times, and if it was a simple fix, it's one that would have been done. The complexity of the "fix" doesn't match with the simplicity of the problem. Thankfully there are so many ways around it that it's not really an issue for me.
