Man it seems to have released all manner of gremlins.
now 2.0.8 is crashing and not letting me unpack any archived edits.
Is it worth sending my crash log to mackie.
Something seriously dogging around.
My system was fine and solid till this update.
For me at least for now it's Totally unusable.

Yes, that's the implication. And paying the full whack each time would make it more expensive than the upgrade costs associated with other (more expensive) hosts. A very depressing thought.

How the world has changed for Tracktion users... :(

That's true, but it was also made very clear that the Mackie effects were part of BOTH upgrade paths. Only the third-party plugs were unique to the boxed-version.

that was my impression. I have no interest in the third party plug-ins, but I do want the mackie stuff and expected it to be included with Tracktion. Now I have to go buy the full boxed version in order to get the new mackie plugs!

I'd like to check them out too.

@ Lunch Money: If you go back and read what I actually said you will notice:

1) That I said the $20 upgrade was a "great deal" (I have consistently said that on this and other forums).

2) That I said I would like to have an oportunity to PAY for the extra Mackie plugs so that I can at least have the complete set (but without having to buy another copy of Tracktion).

Just for the record too, I don't know of any shops in the UK that will give me a $20 rebate on Tracktion. I asked in a couple and they actually laughed at me

I don't think it is even slightly unreasonable of me to want to buy more stuff from Mackie, but I do think is crazy for them to make it so difficult for download customers to move over to their prefered business model in a fair and gradual way. That is what I personally think *seems* somewhat "vindictive" towards the original pre-Mackie customer base, who after all are the very people who helped Tracktion become viable in the first place.

At the end of the day though, by denying me the opportunity to buy their effects, they are ultimately shooting themselves in the foot.
I agree... I'd be happy to pay something for the mackie effects.

I absolutely do not want to purchase another copy of Tracktion just to get them. That is stupid. Some sort of upgrade path should be offered and there is not one.

Interesting.

Tracktion, out of jules hands now.His work on the underlying cross-platform library continues unabated. he's busy. but his software offspring, which has been set loose, slows to crawl developmentwise?

depressing.

I don't understand you people and your negativity. I really don't. Say something positive for a change. Acknowledge the new team's hard work. This is a substantial update and took work to achieve.

For crying out loud, it must be depressing to be you.

Congrats Mackie! You did a heck of a job! Looking forward to the future....

I'm not happy this upgrade is bad for mac users.
I've just lost about a £1000 worth of acoustic guitar take.
It's just turned to white noise...WTF.
Of course i've got a back up but thats not the point.
It's going to take me a couple of hours.
It's shoddy workmanship.

You seem unable to leave people to express what they feel in their interaction with Mackie in regard to a product they have paid for. It is none of your business.

:hihi: Keep on smiling Greg :D

I beg to differ with your assessment that it's a "substantial update" though  . Sure, there's a few nice bits added that justify the point one upgrade from 2.0 to 2.1, but this took them a full year!! Many of the rival companies are releasing very significant full digit upgrades in the same amount of time

But hey, there are some nice additions.

I had time to check out the GUi issue and I'm disappointed to tell that if anything the GUI slowdown is actually worse now than it was before, though :( . Which means I'll have to wait until (presumably) next year before I have another go. So see ya, guys.

if the next download for Tracktion was a 500kb porn film, I think Lunch would still defend it to the ends of the earth.

PS - a brief aside -

Why would anyone want to mix tracks with the Master level meters hidden?? :?

...and with no transport controls?
